Position Purpose:
The role of a Business Systems Analyst is to work as a liaison between the business and technology teams in order to improve the products and services being delivered by the IT organization. Day to day duties include but are not limited to: data gathering, review and analysis of data, data validation and integrity, procurement and development of functional artifact documentaries, as well as creation and execution of test scripts. A Business Systems Analyst will also gather business requirements, support the Integration and development of training materials, work with business and IT groups through all phases of the SDLC lifecycle and communicate often and effectively across all Business and IT teams.
This position will also serve as the primary support and application administrator for third party vendor software used in support of the Safety & Security and Environmental groups.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Creates process engineering and business flow assessments to ensure appropriate engineering of solutions
• Develops complex service models and prototypes
• Creates and implements business partner feedback mechanisms
• Uses broad knowledge of Human Factors Engineering principles to determine solution approach
• Contributes to the creation of business plans (including business cases) to assure plans meet company goals
• Integrates business plans with technical programs and project plans
• Serves as lead conduit between developers, architects and designers, and with internal business partner and/or vendor companies
• Provides technical/functional assistance in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user requirements
• Serves in a consultant role in SDLC models
• Typically leads cross-functional teams to address business or systems issues
• Supports team by assisting with: functionality questions, testing, implementation, and other deployment and delivery functions, as assigned
• Leads enhancement level projects of limited complexity
• Elicits business requirements from partners and translates them into functional specifications and may assist in technical design
• Provides guidance and direction to less experienced business systems analysts
Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree in CS/CE/CIS/MIS/Engineering/Technology or Business Administration related field or equivalent experience/training
• 4+ years of relevant technical or business work experience
• Knowledge of relational databases, SQL, HTML, JavaScript, XML and Python is strongly recommended
• Hands-on experience with application administration, systems support or development recommended
• Advanced expertise in SDLC
• Advanced ability to plan strategically for current and future business environments, including future technology and business design changes to create flexible solutions
• Advanced knowledge of systems flows, engineering documentation, tools and architecture concepts
• Advanced understanding of business systems and industry requirements, and full technical knowledge of systems analysis
• Must be well organized, thrive in a sense-of-urgency environment, leverage best practices, and most importantly, innovate through any problem with a can-do attitude
• Proficient in Visio and MS Office applications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
