Human Resource Generalist / HR (Manufacturing) at The DAKO Group in Bowling Green, OH

Our Bowling Green, OH customer is seeking an experienced HR Generalist (Manufacturing) for a direct hire at a minimum salary of $50,000-$60,000. Must be able to interview (phone or in-person) ASAP, with follow-up interviews on Wednesday, August 19th from 8am-12pm in Ohio.

Role Purpose
Works in conjunction with the HR Manager to organize and implement human resources administration within the department and across the organization at large to include but not limited to recruitment, compensation, training, employee relations, employee benefits, policies/processes, performance management, talent planning. HR Generalist also provides coaching and counselling to managers/supervisors on employee issues.

Key Responsibilities
• Serves as the first point of contact on HR related questions.
• Partners with corporate subject matter experts on the implementation of company-wide employee strategies.
• Responsible for implementation, administration and operation of high-value quality human resources programs, practices and procedures.
• Manage and administer the staffing and recruiting for hourly and salary functions, including advertising, screening, interviewing, selecting and hiring of new employees while adhering to company job posting policies.
• Work with temporary staffing companies to arrange temporary workers when necessary.
• Responsible for completion of all new-hire testing and paperwork, including, background checking, drug testing, skills assessment, etc.
• Enter all employee information into, as well as maintain HRIS system integrity, auditing entries regularly.
• Plan and conduct new employee orientation as well as support on-boarding programs to foster employee engagement.
• Conduct exit interviews as appropriate and utilize information gathered to identify and address root causes of turnover.
• Remain abreast of worker's compensation and related labor laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, etc.) and help provide education to local managers/supervisors.
• Report worker compensation claims to insurance carrier and coordinate appointments and follow-ups between employees and physicians as necessary.
• Train supervisors and appropriate personnel on timekeeping systems to ensure accurate payroll data is completed by deadlines.
• Audit timekeeping system bi-weekly for errors and sign-offs to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, providing Shared Services Payroll team all necessary documentation to meet both company policy and auditing requirements.
• Work with Shared Services team for Payroll, and North America Services (Corporate Benefits) to ensure that new systems and/or processes are fully implemented.
• Assist with employee relations issues. Partner with leaders and/or HR Manager as needed to effectively resolve situations by helping to investigate employee relations cases to address root cause.
• Support safety and security programs and link to related HR programs where applicable.
• Assist with hourly performance management processes within the organization, including employee training and coaching, performance appraisal, personal development planning.
• Organize employee training classes as directed.
• Lead by example in terms of behavior, championing company values and ensuring that all employees are treated with respect.
• Generally support the delivery of HR services to their respective client groups.
• Understands all applicable governmental regulations and advocates compliance requirements. Coach managerial/supervisory staff relative to the interpretation and implementation of relevant HR policies, procedures and programs.
• Be a subject matter expert in one or more areas of human resources (e.g. recruitment, employee relations, compensation, training, etc.)
• Ensure HR policies, procedures, and practices are compliant with relevant state, federal and local employment laws.
• Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity and sustained certification of the Quality standard and any other audit findings related to HR (e.g. GRIP, PLC audit, OFCCP).
• Partner with Finance on projects and reporting to ensure accurate monthly processing.
Coordinate company sponsored recognition events for employees.

Qualifications / Experience / Skills
• BA/BS degree in Human Resources or related field, SPHR or PHR preferred.
• 3-7 years’ of experience in Human Resources with strong focus in employee relations is required
• Experience in manufacturing environment is required
• Must have a desire to eventually hold a HR Management title as that is part of the company’s succession planning process.
• Ability to conduct employee relations investigations and counsel and strong knowledge of HR law and practices.
• Must be able to leverage business understanding to the HR strategies for the organization.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization, resolve conflict and effectively "push back" when appropriate.
• Must have excellent listening, consultative and negotiation skills.
• Solid human resources technical skills including, but not limited to employee relations, compensation, talent acquisition and development, performance management and organization assessment/design.
• Demonstrated ability to create a value added partnership between HR and the business.
• Team player who is willing to adapt to and evolve with the changing needs of the business.
• Proficiency in MS Office and experience with HRIS systems.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to communicate at all levels within the organization.
• Good judgment and problem solving skills.
• Advanced knowledge experience with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to employment (for example, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, EEOC Uniform Guidelines).
• Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and keep issues confidential is critical to this position.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment which changes rapidly to fit the needs of the company and staff.
