Researches, analyzes, designs, develops, writes, edits, and publishes documentation for technical applications, products, training and services.

Nissan is seeking a dynamic individual to fill an opening for Technical Writer at our Nissan Data Center in Englewood, CO. This is a long term contract position.

SCOPE SUMMARY:

The Technical Writer creates, edits, publishes, reviews, and updates written and graphic technical documents including processes, procedures, work instructions, guides, work aids, reports and other presentation graphics and knowledge articles.
Ensures compliance with style and format standards, correct usage of English, standardization of terms, and overall structure and organization of materials.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Create and maintain process documents at the direction of ITSM managers and process owners.
Create and maintain Service Desk scripts as provided by IT/IS support teams.
Create and maintain functional knowledge documents as provided by support teams.
Create and maintain workflow diagrams using a graphical tool.
Convert white board diagrams into mock-up documents using standard/agreed templates/formats.
Monitor articles on the central repository and advise of documents/articles requiring review.
Identify opportunities to create more-effective process documents and knowledge articles.
Monitor IS and Company newsletters to identify the potential need to updated knowledge documents.
Investigate and recommend more-effective ways of managing knowledge.
Define and maintain standard templates.
Create ITIL Tip Sheets and newsletters.
Suggest/write/edit FAQs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in English or a relevant technical field is desired (but not required).
2+ years of technical writing experience supporting an IT office.
Experience collecting, organizing, editing and publishing manuals, standard operating procedures, training materials, installation guides, and reports.
Quick thinker with the ability to turn around quality documents in a timely fashion.
Ability to convert diagrams and notes into template based design, process and/or knowledge documents.
Ability to convert team based conversation into notes and/or diagram mockups.
Knowledgeable in the use of IT Terminology.
Ability to write clear and concise written documents.
Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Ability to keep up with team/group discussions on process/knowledge and document the outcome.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a geographically-dispersed team.
Experience with MS Word, MS PowerPoint and & MS Visio required.
Familiarity with ITIL v2/v3 concepts, SDLC, and IT functions preferred.
Experience writing technical papers with best practices preferred.
Highly Proficient in both oral and written communications.
Highly Proficient in the use of office automation and desktop publishing software.
Experience with MS SharePoint and Content Management Systems a plus.
Experience with BMC Remedy or Service Now process design capabilities highly-desired.
IT Industry certifications are a plus (i.e. ITIL, HDI, etc.)
