Job Description
Performs a variety of engineering work in planning and design of products, tools, engines, machines and other mechanically functioning equipment and mechanical industrial processes. Oversees production, installation, operations, maintenance and repair of such equipment. Works with other engineering disciplines in the development and application of robotics. May specialize in one or more areas, such as fluid dynamics, pneumatics, hydraulics, thermal transfer, etc.. Typically would possess a degree in Mechanical Engineering
Position Summary:
This Quality Engineer will be working on warranty reduction through root cause analysis and countermeasure implementation of assembly and inspection processes for new model and current production vehicles. The engineer will also work with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Design, Parts Quality Engineering, Field Quality, and Client dealers to improve product quality through detailed investigation.
The work will include leading task forces for new and current models to resolve manufacturing concerns and new model warranty planning.
Position Functions:
• Review and investigate warranty concerns through communication with dealers, utilization of warranty claims systems, and lease car center.
• Analyze root cause of warranty concerns using data driven techniques, and complete corrective action.
• Initiate preventative and continuous improvement actions relating to product, process, and quality systems. .
• Develop and present solutions to field concerns in formal reviews with executive management.
• Work with the design department to develop and implement design changes to improve the product.
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor Degree required, Engineering or Engineering Technology Preferred
• 5+ years of progressive experience in an automotive field including manufacturing, process improvement, and quality.
• 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to read and understand operation sheets and process sheets.
• Ability to read drawings.
• Demonstrate problem solving, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and countermeasure identification skills relating to vehicle systems.
• Demonstrate knowledge of GNPP, NPW, and manufacturing processes.
• Understand how to read warranty claims and determine incident rates.
• Ability to present data and reports in a concise manner to upper management.
• Proficient using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Excellent technical oral/written communication skills.
• Project management methodology.
• Must be able to multi-task and work on several projects simultaneously.
• Must be open and willing to travel to both foreign and domestic locations.
