150271 Engineering Designer (Unigraphics)
Our customer located in Auburn Hills, MI is looking for an Engineering Designer (Unigraphics) for a direct hire position.
The salary range for this position is dependent upon experience level.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter; a motivated individual who is passionate about designing and enjoys applying their experience and skills to a variety of product development related design activities.
Position Purpose
The Engineering Designer designs and integrates advanced technology related convenience and safety sensor products into the automobile. They are responsible for completing the work specified in Design Time Work Requests (DTWR) as initiated and supported by the assigned System Engineer. Responsible for designing all sensors to the Design Rules set forth by company. The Engineering Designer will learn how the products are manufactured, and will use this knowledge to aid the team in the design of the most robust sensor possible in line with global best practices. The Engineering Designer’s input into the development process is highly valued and their efforts in contributing to the team goals are noticed and respected.
Required Qualifications
• Two-year electronics or mechanical degree, design certificate, or equivalent experience.
• 2 to 10 years of experience as an automotive designer.
• Good working knowledge of UGNX 7.5 or higher is required.
• Must have strong experience with GD&T and Class A Surfacing (plastics molding experience preferred).
• Good understanding of product design (surfacing or mechanical modeling). Most designs will be completed in AutoCAD and then will be converted to 3D models using UG for final customer database submission.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD 2010 or higher is highly preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Designs will be submitted to GM and Chrysler. Knowledge of TeamCenter is highly preferred.
• SAP experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of Catia is a plus.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Overall technical responsibility for the design of the products into the vehicle application.
• Gather, analyze, and amend customer drawings.
• Ensure that design meets all performance, quality, and manufacturing requirements.
• Develop program specific sensor designs.
• Create and maintain the part evolution list.
• Participate in Gate and Design Reviews.
• Some administrative work may be required, including maintaining and distributing BOM, math data internally and to customers as necessary.
Authority
• Checking the team’s designs to assure all designs pass a production design review.
• Actively participates in production design reviews and is an integral member in problem solving activities.
• Manages own time to get the DTWRs completed accurately and on time.
