150454 Global Functional Safety & QE Development Manager
Our customer located in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking a Global Functional Safety & Quality Engineering Development Manager on a direct hire basis.
The salary range for this position is dependent upon level of experience.
Job Introduction
The Global Functional Safety & Quality Engineering Development Manager implements, executes, and ensures the given responsible functions for functional safety (ISO 26262) and Quality Engineering Development in support of customer programs and as outlined by the company’s strategy and set targets.
Essential Job Functions
• Manage and lead the Global Functional Safety & NA Quality Engineering Development (US and Canada).
• Develop resources and budget plans and managing thus after approval.
• Manage the resources allocations to customer programs / internal projects.
• Manage the personnel matters of the department in line with Company policies:
o Establishing objectives, performance monitoring, performance reviews & training plans, personnel issues, and administrative items (e.g. time cards, time off, communications, etc.).
• Establish, monitor, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the department based on global quality and company strategy & targets assigned.
• Functional Safety Functions:
o Identify the and develop the necessary functional safety processes required for compliance with the state of the art standard (ISO 26262) for all functional areas including engineering, operations, quality, program management, and all other supporting functions including rollout where required.
o Deliver the training on the use and implementation of the functional safety processes across the relevant Organization.
o Establish the customer programs support and compliance strategy in line with ISO 26262.
o Lead the functional safety Development Interface Agreement (Deliverables) with the customers during the program phases.
o Own and conduct the ISO 26262 functional safety audits, confirmation reviews, and functional safety assessments for all relevant customer programs.
o Ensure compliance with ISO 26262 for all relevant customer programs.
o Coach and lead the functional safety engineers in the customer programs’ ISO 26262 compliance.
o Establish and implement global strategy for competency (training) with ISO 26262.
o Develop and deliver the ISO 26262 training material for the different required competency levels.
o Establish plans for the development of System Elements Out Of Context (Platform) for all relevant company components.
o Establish the guidelines for Software Tools Qualifications for all relevant company tools.
o If approved, represent company in relevant industry forums to stay up to date on the advancement in functional safety.
• Quality Engineering Development Functions:
o Develop the QEDev assurance strategies for customer programs.
o Establish the budgets for customer programs support and provide the resources.
o Coach the QEDev engineers in carrying out the execution of the programs quality plans.
o Report on customer programs status and support customer programs quality gates sign off.
o Actively participate in the development of the global engineering development processes.
o Support the quality system certification (TS 16949 and ISO 9001) for the NA engineering centers.
o Implement CMMI and automotive SPICE as required by the regional markets and company mandated goals, regulations, policies and commitments.
• Adherence of all relevant company procedures, process models and systems.
• Signature policy compliance in respect to third party contact.
Required Knowledge & Education
• Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Software Engineering (or equivalent).
Required Work Experience
• 10 to 15 years of experience in the design, development, and quality of electrical / electronic automotive products.
• 5 to 10 years of experience in the development of functional safety relevant products; vehicle level experience with the implementation of functional safety is a plus.
Required Skills & Competencies
• In-depth knowledge of ISO 26262 with experience in the implementation of the standard in automotive programs.
• Proven expertise in the development of engineering and quality processes.
• Proven expertise in the areas of safety analysis for System, Hardware, and Software including FMEA, Common Cause Analysis, Dependent Failure Analysis, FTA.
• Experience in delivering technical training.
• Internal Auditor of TS 16949, ISO 9001.
• Knowledge of CMMI, Automotive SPICE, AIAG, and VDA 6.3, Internal Assessor is a plus.
• Certified Six-Sigma Belt or other methodical standards is a plus.
• Knowledge of manufacturing systems a plus.
