Job Description
PRODUCTION MANAGER - CNC & Heat Treatment
Responsible for management and organizational leadership of the Turning and Heat Treatment departments to meet or exceed customer requirements, achieve profitable growth and to help increase the return on total investment. Develop a positive work environment and organizational culture that allows all employees within these departments to contribute toward customer satisfaction, while focusing on safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, cost control, and continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Continually drive safety improvement record in the CNC turning and Heat Treat departments by addressing both physical safety issues and employee attitudes toward safety. Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas.
Responsible for product/process quality, safety, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
Assist in creating and managing manufacturing processes and while controlling WIP.
Ensure machines are operating properly and achieving production schedules.
Leadership of all production within the CNC turning and Heat Treat departments. Coach and mentor teams to improve operational effectiveness and efficiencies
Assist in development of operating budgets, and support plans to assure that financial objectives are achieved. Manage spending against budget in relation to changes in production volume.
Serve as champion of Lean Manufacturing Initiative within subject departments to insure organizational capability is developed; projects are defined and executed to improve our ability to deliver quality products to our customers while creating profitable growth.
Works with HR to insure annual employee objectives are aligned with business plan.
Recommend annual compensation adjustments and changes.
Must Haves
A minimum of 5-7 years managerial experience in a manufacturing environment. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a business or technical field. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to create and build a strong teamwork environment. Knowledge of general machine operations and strong mechanical comprehension skills. At least 3 years of lean manufacturing experience. Ability to work with cross functional department leaders to provide seamless and transparent feedback and communication to continuously improve the company. Good employee relation skills in mentoring, developing and counseling all levels of personnel. Be able to work in a fast paced environment. High energy level required.
Promote culture that assures continued union free environment. Work to establish management practices which include employee involvement and constructive feedback.
Establish department and individual accountabilities that promote creative thinking and problem solving.
