AX Developer at FOCUS Consultants in Baltimore, MD

The AX Developer supports MOIT’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications by reviewing, analyzing and modifying Agency and City programming systems - including encoding, testing, and debugging to ensure that all Agency and City software can be completely integrated into the ERP system. The AX Developer will also design new modules to improve system efficiency.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with the ERP team to create strategic roadmaps and tactical/short-term plans for the ERP system. Assist in implementing and testing application updates, enhancements, version upgrades, and patches. Customize the AX and CRM software as needed.
• Work with the ERP team on various ERP-related projects. Provide development, testing, and requirements gathering efforts as they pertain to the AX and CRM software.
• Perform various ERP system security functions (e.g. user / role administration, security/access, record maintenance, data cleansing).
• Fulfill the role of liaison between technical and non-technical personnel. Ensure projects and application changes are prioritized and scheduled in collaboration with program and project management. Respond to user requests in a timely fashion. Work with end users to identify, trouble-shoot, and resolve issues and inquiries.
• Gather, interpret, estimate, and document ERP system request requirements. Participate in planning ERP project activities. Facilitate acceptance and approval of deliverables from project sponsors.
• Resolve and/or assist in resolving system / development issues. Escalate, when necessary, project issues and risks to the ERP team and management, including impact and mitigation assessments and proposals.
• Perform periodic health checks on AX and CRM environment and modules. Assist in the monitoring and management of day-to-day ERP activities.
• Maintain reports and design / deploy reporting requests.
• Maintain current and accurate inventory of hardware and software resources.
• Make recommendations about purchase of technology resources.
• Be familiar with network operating system.
• Assist in network access to all approved staff.
• Provide orientation to new users.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
• Expert understanding of and experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM software.
• An understanding of best practices for Dynamics AX development, documentation standards and processes.
• Thorough understanding of application development life cycle and large scale software implementation methodologies; Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX full life cycle implementation.
• SQL, AX 2012 Report Writer, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Report Builder, Development / Programming, AX User Setup / Roles / Personalization, EDI Interface, Business Intelligence (Cube/BI), System Administration
• Ability to work with outside consultants / developers.
• Outlook, Office 365, SharePoint, Lync, Excel, Access knowledge.
• Project Management, Help Desk, Documentation of procedures, instructions, etc. related to AX, CRM and networks.
• Ability to assess and resolve complex ERP problems / issues / risks.
• Significant understanding of and experience with software development project lifecycles and business planning, with a proven track record of success in multiple, complex projects.
• Knowledge of computer hardware and software systems, computer networks, network administration, and computer troubleshooting.
• Ability to take a functional business requirements, spec out user requirements and turn it into a technical design.
• Competency using processes and tools required to perform required duties and tasks.
• Must be capable of multi-tasking, prioritizing, and handling a large project load in a fast-paced environment with quickly changing and competing priorities.
• Ability to articulate and submit Project status updates and assess the impact of new project requirements on existing workloads
• Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills with demonstrated ability to work systematically and logically to analyze situations, resolve problems, identify causes and anticipate implications.
• Outstanding people management skills, including ability to lead a team and mentor individuals in career growth
• Must have a can-do attitude and is flexible to work outside of normal business hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
• Dynamics AX Certification 2012 / Microsoft Office 365 / SQL / SSRS.
• 5+ years of experience developing MS Dynamics AX 2012; experience with R# a plus
• Five (5) plus years development using X++ and MorphX IDE in Dynamics AX
• Experience with Object Oriented language; In Example: C#, VB.Net, Java, and the .Net Framework.
• Technical and functional knowledge of MS Dynamics AX 2012 and supporting Microsoft Technologies including SQL Server, SQL, SSRS, SSIS,SSAS, SharePoint, and Visual Studio
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL 2008/2012 and database design.
• Working knowledge of Source Control Systems, such as TFS
• Familiarity with UNIX and Windows platforms.
• Proficient with AX workflow and security development techniques
• Experience integrating AX with external systems
• Experience in maintaining multiple Dynamics AX environments.
