Position: Network Engineer
Location: SCOTT AFB, ILLINOIS
Duration: Fulltime

Essential Job Functions
• Under minimum supervision, designs and coordinates the installation and acceptance testing of the system network.
• Recommends engineering solutions for new and existing requirements relating to the physical network, processing, storage, appliances, and security devices.
• Monitors network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options.
• Plans the implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network; performs cost/benefit studies of network configurations and recommends enhancements.
• Directs the acquisition, installation, and testing of network hardware.
• Advises network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations; and isolates, resolves, or circumvents network problems.
• Applies the principles of assessing and analyzing network transmission application to resolve reported malfunctions.
• Prepares or modifies architectural drawings relating to AMC systems.
• Recommends course of action for network security and system architecture changes to mitigate identified vulnerabilities.

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, management information systems, or related field preferred
• Six or more years of experience in data, voice or video networks
• Experience working with multiple technical platforms (e.g., mainframe, two-tiered client-server, three-tiered client-server) and at least two network systems (e.g., Novell, Windows NT)
• Experience working with network systems, networking principles, data, voice or video
• Experience working with network software and hardware, data, voice or video
• Experience working with proprietary software and hardware
• Possess Department of Defense (DoD) security access and/or DoD security clearance

Other Qualifications
• Knowledge of net-centric tenets and how different aspects of net-centric warfare induce or reduce risk.
• Understands security practices and their implications to engineering lifecycle, including the initial planning activities, based on Government standards and industry best practices and guidance.
• Understands assurance best practices employed to protect critical Government assets from cyber threats and to ensure the integrity of all engineered items.
• Must have experience with Cisco Network, Checkpoint, F5, and DoD network architecture
• Experience with Solar Winds, Net Management, and IBM DataPower would be a plus
• DoD SECRET Clearance (Interim OK), COMPTIA Sec + with continuing education
