Company is seeking an Actuarial Product Director.
Develop the operational and financial strategies that leverage and enhance operations in the Business Owners and Farm lines of business
Drive quality results and customer focus into everyday operations
Lead the innovation and update of insurance programs in response to the changing business environment
Utilize your line of insurance expertise and your team's expertise to analyze market, industry, competitor, legal and regulatory trends and use these to provide actionable insights that drive the business of both the company and its customers
To meet these goals, you will direct and oversee collaborations with Product Strategy Leaders for Business Owners and Farm to drive increased product enhancement and development, seeking to differentiate, competitively position and adapt your products, and leverage their value to customers. You will work within a Shared Services model, where you will work with Actuarial Operations (staff actuarial support) and Analytic Data Management (data analysis experts) to coordinate actuarial support for key functions, including, the preparation of actuarial reviews and filings and supplementary rating information. or multi-state rules.
You will be the key ambassador for your products, You will also direct research within the Actuarial Products team for product enhancements and new product development, utilizing support from Actuarial Operations, Actuarial Procedures, and Analytic Data Management as appropriate. As product owner, you will be responsible for interacting with regulatory authorities on the filing review and approval process, correspondence and requests for information.
You will drive quality results and emphasize customer focus in all aspects of you operations. This includes responding to developments, leading panels or other customer forums, representing the product to customers, working with the customer engagement and sales team, and being a key customer resource. This also means expanding your teams' strategic understanding of the industry and our customers and mobilizing their talents, enthusiasm, and insights in support of our strategic business objectives. You will work to expand the use of products and provide support to a growing customer base.
You will also have primary responsibility for regulatory interactions, including, at times, representing at meetings with state insurance departments and industry groups.
As a key to your success, you will use your technical and communication expertise to strengthen your teams' strategic understanding of the industry and our customers and will mobilize their talents, enthusiasm and insights in support of our strategic business objectives. As the cultural and performance leader for a small staff of line-of-business experts you will enact collaboration as your team's modus operandi with all stakeholders. This means inviting perspectives, contributions, and partnerships within the team, the unit, the company, and with our customers and business partners.
You will manage your team's performance to ensure strong implementation of team and organizational objectives. This includes setting clear goals, tracking performance, providing timely and specific feedback, and making tough calls. It also means providing resources and inviting people's intelligence and input into how they achieve their goals. Leadership also means that you will be responsible to develop, motivate, and empower staff. This requires stretching your staff with on-the-job with assignments, knowledge exchange, training, and feedback that further the business objectives and their growth. You will create a culture that celebrates success and deals directly with challenges.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. FCAS required.
Minimum eight years insurance actuarial analysis and product development experience desired.
6+ years' experience leading team(s), with strong records of building great internal or external customer relationships that focuses on gaining actionable insights and forming collaborative partnerships with the goal of innovation, product improvement, and/or ease of use.
6+ years' experience of pro-active, effective performance management, staff development, and the facilitation of a motivated, empowered work culture within your team (s). Promotes pro-active problem resolution.
6+ years' experience of strategic thought leadership fueled by deep knowledge of market, industry, customer, and competitor trends and resulting in directional insights and innovations that drive progress towards business objectives.
