The Emergency Department Manager is responsible for the overall operation and direction of patient care in the Emergency Care setting. This position manages staff members in the Emergency Department; Consults with staff, physicians Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Executive Officer on nursing problems and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities; assists in formulating budget; responsible for staff education and development.
Minimum Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. BSN preferred.
Minimum Work Experience:
3-5 years clinical experience with 2-3 years progressive nursing management experience.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
Licensed RN
Current BLS certification
Current NIHSS certification
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
* Demonstrated clinical competence in relevant area of nursing practice
* Demonstrated leadership ability and potential managerial competency
* Must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
* Effective human relations skills are required for interfacing with team members, all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families and other contacts.
BOTTOM-LINE REQUIREMENTS: (Candidates must answer)
1. Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing required. BSN preferred.
