Strive Living Society is currently seeking caring and compassionate people to join our team as a Support Worker/Companion for the senior population. Positions require workers to provide companionship, assistance, and housekeeping to elderly adults residing in their own homes.
Responsibilities Include:
Ensuring the health and safety of elderly clients
Engaging and socializing with elderly clients
Possible meal prep and cooking
Accompanying elderly clients to appointments, events, etc.
Possible personal care
Medication reminders/administration
Housekeeping (dusting, vacuuming, laundry, etc.)
Skills and Abilities:
* Ability to work well independently and within an established team
* Effective time and organization skills
* Ability to multi-task
* Good verbal, written, and communication skills
* Adequate cooking skills
* Flexible schedule
* Second language an asset
Qualifications:
- Minimum Grade 12
- Certificate in Health Care or Community Support an asset
- Previous experience providing care for the elderly or disabled
- First aid and CPR
- Criminal Record clearance
- TB Clearance
- Annual flu vaccination
- Valid BC driver’s license and clear driver’s abstract an asset
- Eligibility to work in Canada
The successful applicant should have a passion for working with people and understand the issues facing the elderly population.
Hours Per Week: Casual with full time and part time opportunities
Compensation:
Companion Care - $14.00/hr (no certification required)- No personal care or lifting
Health Care Assistant - $17.50/hr (Must have care aid certificate)
