Our Plymouth, MI customer is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a direct hire position at a salary range of $70,000-$80,000 (MAX). No relocation package is available. Prefer U.S. Citizens and Green Card Holders, however, for the right person would consider sponsorship.
Role Purpose: Work in the Instrumentation group of the company developing load cells, calibration fixtures, crash dummy certification test equipment, crash dummy DAS integration and crash wall design. This is a highly visible position with a critical impact on the company’s future. Internal and external contacts include all levels of employees within the company, division management, consultants, and other professional business contacts within the industry. External contacts are key to the effective execution of the objectives of the company. Frequently these interactions will involve extremely complex, emotional and sensitive issues. Success in this area is vital for the development of the existing and future business.
Responsibilities:
• Update and design load cells, calibration fixtures for load cells and certification equipment
• Design custom ATD components for data acquisition systems (DAS) integration
• Design various types of crash walls, poles and skids
• Design, develop and test instrumentation
• Create proposals and interact with customers
• Perform ATD and DAS testing as required
• Design mounting devices for integration of instrumentation
• Set-up and test Data Acquisition Systems
• Develop and release engineering drawings in CAD (2D and 3D) for instrumentation integration of utilizing Autodesk Inventor
• Resolve internal instrumentation integration issues
• Detail and check FEA analysis
• Develop product instruction sheets or manuals
• Check and detail using GD&T
• Check parts for fit and function
• Assist other departments as needed
• Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
• BS in Mechanical Engineering is required, MS in Mechanical Engineering preferred
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience with technical projects is required
• Proficient in Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD software is preferred; and management a plus (if they do not have SolidWorks is acceptable) as CAD is a must
• Microsoft Office including MS Project
• GD&T, DOE and Six Sigma Green Belt a plus
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and standards.
• Strong understanding of GD&T
• Ability to read and comprehend mechanical and electrical blueprints.
• Ability to think out of the box and solve design problem.
• Ability to follow written/diagramed processes and procedures.
• Poses a high level of interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Basic knowledge of machining procedures, abilities, and limitations
