Our Plymouth, MI customer is seeking an experienced Brake Actuation Development Engineer for a direct hire. Sponsorship is NOT AVAILABLE. Will NOT consider fresh-out graduates, entry-level or candidates with less than 3 years' experience.
Position Duties - The qualified candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to the following
• Benchmark new platform competitive vehicles and report on technologies and performance.
• Set targets for new platform and cascade results.
• Help develop a statement of work for new platforms.
• Research Actuation advanced technologies and future regulations requirements.
• Understanding of the Product Development System.
• Have working knowledge of interaction of brake systems and the effects of a change on each other (foundation brakes, actuation and electronic brake controls).
• Run vehicle test and analyze data to report on vehicle performance.
• Understand the effects of the actuation components on pedal feel.
• Help establish a company DNA for a world class pedal feel.
• Develop tests to prove out concepts or evaluate concerns.
• Develop timelines for new platform and prototype vehicles.
• Coordinate prototype vehicle builds, supervising vehicle modifications and components.
• Subjective/Objective evaluation of brake system performance.
• Lead actuation problem resolution team using troubleshooting tools (i.e. 8-D, fishbone, etc.).
• Able to review Catia data.
• Research test equipment required to build an actuation test lab.
• Understanding the contribution of the actuation components to NVH issues.
• Develop process for design for quality
• Develop actuation training.
• Knowledge of the pedal box a plus.
• Knowledge and ability to write system DVP&R and DFMEA’s
Requirements:
• BS in engineering or above.
• 7+ years’ experience in this field with ability to teach and train others in brake actuation including slip control boost.
• Must have 5+ years’ of experience working directly at an OEM and/or Tier 1 automotive supplier.
• Good report and procedures writing skills.
