The Software Product Engineer position is responsible for development, maintenance, enhancements, support, and field deployment of MTConnect -compliant Viz Adapters, required hardware, and related monitoring applications (hereinafter Products), including maintaining existing Viz Applications and troubleshooting the systems on Amazon Cloud or local on-site server.
Primary essential functions of the Machining Research Engineer’s/ Software Product Engineer responsibilities include:
1. Assist in quoting process, working with Sales and prospective customers.
2. Visit potential clients to determine their requirements and capabilities discussing the array of applicable solutions and lead prospective customers to the best-fit solution, demonstrating the products and engaging in technical discussions with client.
3. Manage execution and delivery of incoming orders.
4. Development of MTConnect Viz Adapters that interface to CNCs, sensors, and any other applicable device including databases.
5. Create Adapter per order and deliver per promise. Through customer interaction, determine the need for software updates, features, options, and bug fixes.
6. Create and assist with strategies to plan, create, execute, cost, invoice, deliver, and support the products; provide input on pricing, discount, delivery, and licensing strategies; provide continual development through maintenance, enhancements, and adherence to the latest MTConnect standard; provide prospect and customer support via email, telephone, teleconference, live visit.
7. Deploy products and related monitoring applications in the field; manage installations as projects, keeping tight collaboration with customers, sales, and colleagues.
Requirements:
Bachelors’ Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent (MBA preferred). Five years or more manufacturing and with hands-on experience related to advanced machining technologies. 2+ years software development experience (C#/C++ preferred, VB acceptable). Experience in MS Visual Studio, .Net framework and SQL Server. Knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, XML, MTConnect standard. Knowledge of CNC machine tools and manufacturing in general. Willingness to conduct installation and deployment in a production environment
Supporting Skills:
Proficiency in software applications required in the performance of job duties (MS Office Suite, Microsoft Project, etc.). Working knowledge of FANUC FOCAS, Allen Bradley PLC, ladder programming, Siemens S7, OPC, RPC, other industrial networking communication protocols. Hands-on experience with machine tool CNC, I/O, and wiring. Ability to read electrical schematics to identify required data points. Ability to safely and effectively install required hardware devices.
