Product Design Engineer - Aern
Saginaw, Michigan.
The Product Design Engineer will have a key role in product development of actuation products. They will have responsibility for delivering strategic design and development goals in electro-mechanical actuation to grow current and capture future business opportunities. This position reports to the Vice President of Engineering with a dotted line responsibility to the Chief Engineer, Actuation. The Product Design Engineer will reside in the Thomson Aerospace & Defense facility located in Saginaw, Michigan.
Job Core Responsibilities

Design, development, analysis, testing and implementation of breakthrough electro-mechanical actuation technologies
Work within a design team to understand the needs and development of integrated electro-mechanical actuation assemblies based on linear and rotary motion technology that differentiate Thomson Aerospace & Defense from the competition
Interpret customer requirements and provide conceptual and detailed design of electromechanical actuators and sub-components.
Provide selection of motors, feedback devices, stress, thermal and performance analysis, test plans and guidance to team members.
Advance Thomson Aerospace & Defense’ use of analytical tools and testing methods
Design, conduct, and analyze laboratory testing of new products
Travel as necessary
Work with design and process teams to identify, investigate and implement state of the art materials, design improvements and manufacturing processes
Independently manage cross-functional project teams for new technology or product developments
Job Specifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
7 years minimum relevant experience in the design of electromechanical devices or related motion-control machinery.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering,
Experience with solid modeling (CAD exp required NX preferred but not necessary)
Experience in design and development of electro-mechanical devices
Design analysis tools and testing background a plus
Background in motors, drives, and controls or other similar motion control areas helpful
Excellent communication skills
Self-motivated team player
Hands on approach, willing to roll up the sleeves
Due to ITAR requirements, must be a U.S. Person
