Job Summary:
Provide intensive service management and assistance to individuals identified to be in potentially lethal situations. Work with the survivor to share information, provide safety planning and possible aid in relocation. Work with law enforcement reading police reports and assessing for lethality. Follow up with high lethality victims to offer program services. Coordinate a Community Action Team (CAT). Attend community meetings. Accurate documentation.
Program Description:
The Intimate Violence Enhanced Services Team is a unique program designed to provide intensive service management and assistance to individuals identified to be in potentially lethal situations. Because high risk victims often do not seek services they do not receive safety planning or danger assessments. InVEST's unique model allows law enforcement and DV centers to work together to identify victims at high risk for homicide and to enhance their possibility of receiving safety from further victimization. Based on a community coordinated response model, teams for InVEST include advocates, officers, and detectives working together to create a comprehensive system of victim safety through batterer intervention models and safety planning with the survivor. Often deciding together how to handle a certain situation law enforcement works to maintain batterer accountability, through injunctions, monitoring and follow up.

o Peace River Center will collaborate with law enforcement on the InVEST project.
o Peace River Center and law enforcement will develop or enhance InVEST policies and procedures within departments. The policies and procedures will follow FCADV mandated InVEST Standards.
o In an effort to identify high risk survivors, the InVEST Advocate will participate in a daily review of police reports which may include project partners. The InVEST Advocate will submit quarterly documentation of reviews to supervisor.
o The InVEST Advocate shall connect with law enforcement advocates or investigators as needed or they are available to do so to discuss potential InVEST cases and current InVEST cases.
o The InVEST Advocate will attempt verbal contact with InVEST eligible survivors of domestic violence.
o The InVEST Advocate will conduct an initial safety plan with the survivors with whom they make verbal contact.
o The InVEST Advocate and other relevant staff shall attend FCADV InVEST Learning Exchanges throughout the project period.
o The InVEST Advocate will collaborate with FCADV, law enforcement, and other community partners to raise awareness of high lethality indicators and available services by displaying InVEST posters at partnering agency facilities.
o The InVEST Advocate will conduct a minimum of two internal capacity building trainings with Peace River Center domestic violence center staff and volunteers who work with survivors at high risk of homicide. Training topics may include, but not be limited to, InVEST program services, conducting safety planning and risk assessments with survivors at high risk of homicide, and collaborating with the InVEST Advocate to provide domestic violence core services to InVEST participants.
o Peace River Center shall work with community partners to create and establish or enhance to reflect this project, a Coordinated Community Response (CCR) Team to assess current gaps and strengths of the local criminal justice system’s response to high risk domestic violence cases. Team members shall include, but not be limited to, qualified representatives from the following: PCSO, Law Enforcement organizations, Peace River Center, the Polk County State Attorney’s Office, and local batterer intervention program(s).
o The CCR Team will meet monthly.
o The Peace River InVEST Advocate will attend Polk County Fatality Review Team meetings and CCR meetings. Sign in sheets and meeting agendas shall be kept on file.
o Peace River’s InVEST Advocate will attend a minimum of one ride along with PCSO or other local law enforcement officers every six months.
o Peace River Center’s InVEST Advocate shall offer roll call training to all local law enforcement organizations.
o Ongoing survivor feedback surveys will be collected and compiled to assess satisfaction of InVEST participants. Data will be submitted to supervisor quarterly.
o An employee in this position must be able to react to change productively and to handle other tasks as assigned.
o Must learn, understand and carry out all Domestic Violence Program Procedures.
o Know, understand and respect participants’ rights.
o Complete registration paperwork and service documentation for victims of domestic violence who enter Outreach Services.
o Document in participant’s file regarding groups, service management and incidents.
o Complete required PRC paperwork as it pertains to job duties in a timely manner.
o Provide information, referral and counseling to victims of domestic violence and the general public, regardless of gender or disabilities.
o Document daily activities for your supervisor and turn in monthly.
o Provide phone crisis counseling as trained, pertaining to sexual and domestic violence victim callers if needed.
o Attend monthly staff meetings.
o May provide presentations and training within the community.
o Working knowledge of community resources especially in areas of housing, training and employment.
o Attend all scheduled work hours, meetings, trainings, and other center functions, as required.
o Facilitate support groups in the community and complete the required documentation.
o Comply with reporting requirements designated by Peace River Center’s contractual obligations.
o Be willing to drive personal vehicle on job related business. See detailed requirements below under transportation.
o This position may be assigned additional position duties by a supervisor, other than those listed as is consistent with business necessity. On-going assigned duties will be added in the form of an addendum to this job description.
Qualifications:
Must meet the DCF state-mandated background and screening requirements.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
A minimum of one year working with individuals or families in crisis preferred. Domestic violence related preferred.
Certifications:
None
Training:
30 hours FCADV Core Competency training (provided)
30 hours FCASV ACT training (provided)
Other annual trainings as required by PRC, FCADV & FCASV.
Knowledge and Skills:
o Bi-lingual preferred.
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

o Proficiency with Microsoft Office software package.
o Ability to self-motivate and self-start.
