SUMMARY:
Management Business Solutions (MBS) is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor for a fast-paced manufacturing client in Grand Rapids, MI, to oversee production and/or packaging operations. The supervisor monitors the total production process including material receipts, equipment, process methodology, mechanical repair work orders, on-the-job training of employees, writing and development standard operating procedures, and maintenance of product quality and quantity standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the planning, scheduling, and successful completion of the production process
Supervision and training of 12 -15 hourly employees
Identifying problem areas and direct implementation of corrective action
Provide on-the-job training to employees
Monitoring in-process quality, department safety and productivity
Maintenance of line efficiencies on a daily basis
Manage fluctuating raw material quality, product conversion yields, and inventory tracking on a consistent basis
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science, Packaging, or related discipline OR five years hands on experience in food industry
Minimum of 3 years of production supervisory experience in food plant environment or equivalent industry with FDA/MDA regulations
Ability to support a 24 hour operation required
Experience troubleshooting problems on a production line
Experience in evaporation, drying, membrane technology, packaging and sanitation
Must be able and willing to work a flexible work schedule to accommodate all/any shift depending on production and/or project needs
Proficiency in MS Office applications such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word required
SAP, Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and/or continuous improvement experience preferred
High speed packaging experience highly desired
