SUMMARY:
Management Business Solutions (MBS) is seeking an experienced Plant Engineering Manager to manage capital spending, technical support, power and facility maintenance, and energy control to assure effective capital utilization for improved productivity and profitability. This role requires relocation to the Grand Rapids, MI, area if you do not already live in the area. A full relocation package is offered by the company.
RESPONSIBILITIES:•Integrate Continuous Improvement into all aspects of the engineering function as evidenced by demonstrating continuous improvement, teamwork with co-workers, distinguished customer service and striving for excellence
•Demonstrate leadership in the Engineering and Maintenance Departments by implementing programs in training, safety, communications, performance recognition and internal employee development in order to ensure peak employee productivity
•Serve as a lead in all technical requirements to ensure that the technical operations are aligned with maximizing production effectiveness and optimizing performance to lower overall operating costs
•Implement plant safety programs to ensure a safe working environment
•Ensure that Engineering/Maintenance programs are completed as defined by budgetary and corporate standards
QUALIFICATIONS:•Bachelor’s degree in engineering
•10 years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, with 5 years of experience in food manufacturing or a similar industry with governmental requirements (FDA, GMP, etc.)
•Knowledge of engineering principles, design theory, maintenance systems, process methodology, sanitation practices, regulatory standards, energy systems and design
•Strong leadership skills, including demonstrated experience in developing team members and coaching other
•Knowledge of and ability to manage continuous improvement processes and projects such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, etc.
•Knowledge of boiler systems, ammonia refrigeration systems, and waste water treatment
•Understanding of financial accountabilities and capital expenditures
•Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
•Computer proficiency, including familiarity with SAP or a similar program
