Full-Time DoD Field Support Engineer - Huntsville, AL
Job Profile:
The Network, System Integration and Test Environment (NSITE) Product Office is seeking anentry-level to mid-level candidate in support of the Software Engineering Directorate. This individual will represent NSITE software products and hardware integration efforts. Support execution includes the Missile Defense Agency data collection and test execution activities (Flight Tests, Ground Tests and Wargames). The candidate should be able to perform equipment installations,maintenance, networking equipment (i.e. Cisco routers and switches), computers, and associated cabling. The candidate will also be responsible for conducting security updates (as required) and validating Configuration Management documentation in support of Information Assurance certification and accreditation activities. The candidate should be a self-starter and be able operate with minimal supervision. The candidate will conduct daily duties at the Software Engineering Directorate (SED), Redstone Arsenal.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Interact with site personnel to coordinate installation of network and computer equipment
• Operate NSITE software based on event support requirements
• Implementation of approved maintenance and security procedures/software updates
• Maintain Configuration Management documentation
• Support Information Assurance activities
• Ability to identify system engineering requirements from customer goals and objectives
• NSITE Software Field Testing and Reporting
Required Skills:
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong interpersonal skills and reporting practices
• Basic Information Technology (IT) principlesand troubleshooting experience
• Experience with Internet Protocol (IP) networks and Cisco networking equipment
• Ability to deploy for CONUS and OCONUS support (on average 10 20% per year)
• Bachelor Degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience
• Ability to obtain certifications (Security+ and either a Microsoft or Cisco certification) within 6 months of hire
Preferred (not critical) Skills:
• Current A+, Network+ and Security+ Certification
• Current Microsoft or Cisco Certifications
• Understanding of Network, System Integration and Test Environment (NSITE) software
• UHF Tactical Radio operation experience
• Functional understanding of tactical interoperability equipment to include Air Defense Systems Integrator (ADSI), Link Monitoring and Management Tool (LMMT), Joint Range Extension (JRE), and C2BMCsystems
• Familiarity with the Missile Defense Agency(MDA) Test planning and procedures
• Understanding of common tactical data link (TADIL) communications protocols and uses
• Familiarity with Tactical RoIP Inter-Communications System (TRICS) and WAVE software
• Familiarity with WireShark and/or OmniPeeksoftware
