Description:
Under the direction of department management, provides quality leadership by interfacing with the client’s supply base. Responsible to manage supplier quality deliverables, to continually improve/sustain optimum supplier quality performance, customer service relations, and market/warranty performance. Is the supplier quality liaison between client and the supplier. Provides leadership, reports, presentations, and appropriate response to related quality issues. Responsible for managing Supplier’s Quality to automotive Zero Defects standards such that defective parts/components do not impact client’s production or customers. Continuously monitors Incoming & Process defective rates for needed supplier improvement. Issues/manages/confirms effective and timely Supplier Corrective Actions [QFN’s, SCAR’s]. Report Quality Failure Notification (QFN), SCAR’s status in management review. Evaluates and reports quality effectiveness of new and potential suppliers. Confirms ISO compliance of supplier quality systems, processes, Statistical Process Control (SPC), inspection, etc. Manages supplier Advanced Production Quality Process (APQP) deliverables including (Production Part Approval Process (PPAP’s). Responsible for supplier spill containment a/o scheduling and managing rework effort. Actively and urgently develops problematic suppliers and develops timeline for completion of corrective actions or suggests replacement strategy. Confirms supplier adherence to Supplier Quality Assessment Manual (SQAM) and Purchasing requirements. Actively benchmarks, improves, and adheres to SQA Quality Systems and Procedures to ensure full compliance to customer and ISO/TS16949 requirements. Leads/participates in cross-functional improvement teams/programs to effective resolution and results. Responsible to develop and sustain optimum supplier quality relations. Insure timely and effective Supplier Quality interface, deliverables. Direct continuous customer quality leadership to achieve/maintain 0-ppm. Host customer quality visits, audits, and reviews. Responsible for audit of supplier quality systems, ECO approvals, and Controls Plans
PROBLEM-SOLVING/KNOW HOW: (complexity of problems and education/experience & other knowledge required)
Four-year college degree in Mechanical Engineering
Must have good understanding of quality approaches.
Familiarity of manufacturing processes found at Company’s suppliers.
Familiarity with structured problem solving using one or more of the following methods: 8D, 5 Whys, Root Cause Analysis.
Previous work experience in a cross-cultural, international environment preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Windows based databases.
