Description: Aspect Consulting is seeking a Senior Database Administrator for a Contract to hire position located in Philadelphia, PA.
The Senior Database Administrator (Sr. DBA) is responsible for the maintenance, reliability, security, and performance of the University’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. With other members of the Enterprise Systems Administration team, the Sr. DBA ensures that Oracle Databases, Fusion Middleware, and ERP systems are highly available, technically current and seamlessly integrated. The incumbent must provide vision and leadership in coordinating activities among the database administrators, the Change Management Board, the application development team, network management personnel, systems administrators and key stakeholders from the University community.
Responsibilities/Roles:
Provide primary technical support for the implementation, management and support of the Banner Information System (Banner software, INB, SSB and XE) and auxiliary ERP systems including Document Management, Workflow, Room Scheduling, Job Scheduling, customer relationship management, degree audit and other systems.
Provide primary technical support for the implementation, management and support of WebLogic Server and Oracle Fusion Middleware for Banner INB, SSB and XE.
Provide secondary technical support for the implementation, management and support of the Data Warehouse system to include the Oracle database, middleware and reporting tools.
Assist the Principal DBA with the administration of the University Oracle databases, and ensure the effective administration of allocated file system storage.
Performance tuning for Oracle Databases and Fusion Middleware on UNIX and Linux servers. Develop and maintain UNIX shell scripts to automate Banner, Automic job scheduler, Oracle Database and Fusion Middleware admin tasks. Install configure and test new version of WebLogic Server and Oracle Fusion Middleware software (FMW) for Oracle Forms, Reports, Java, mod/plsql, J2EE and Web Cache applications. Create and maintain Oracle Wallet for SSL certificate used for FMW servers.
Manage, modify and upgrade the University’s ERP systems including Banner, database, job scheduler, and application software to ensure the technical currency of these systems.
Collaborate with systems administrators on capacity planning, file system layout, and business continuity and disaster recovery planning for the ERP environment.
Develop and maintain ERP system documentation following procedures outlined by the Executive Director of the Enterprise Administration Team.
Effectively manage projects keeping the Exec Director of Enterprise System Admin and the rest of the Enterprise Systems Admin Team informed.
Participate in technical planning within the Enterprise Systems Admin Team and with other members of the IT division.
Keep pace with technologies by attending conferences and training, monitoring product developments and strategic direction related to core vendors such as Oracle, Ellucian and other vendor web sites and user groups.
Provide technical support for web-based, departmental initiatives that require systems or database administration support.
Provide technical support for Haub Business School database servers.
Provide excellent customer service to the user community and develop a strong partnership with the administrative users. Anticipate and respond to the needs of the administrative users enlisting the expertise of members of the IT staff as necessary.
Keep pace with new technologies.
Ensure the security of the University ERP systems at both the operating system and database levels.
Ensure the reliable backup and recovery of the University's ERP Systems.
Develop, maintain and document system utilities in support of user requirements
Perform system performance monitoring, tuning and capacity planning.
Skills/Requirements/Experience:
Bachelor's degree

Five years of experience is required to include a combination of any, and/or all of the following areas:
Oracle Database Administration and Administration of other Oracle technologies including OWB, PL/SQL, Fusion Middleware, WebLogic Server, RAC, Cloud Control
File system management in a UNIX/Linux environment
Shell Scripting for UNIX/Linux systems
Specific experience with the Banner ERP system, Ellucian’s ODS/EDW, Banner Document Management System, Automic job scheduling system
Cognos Business Intelligence tools, star schemas and cubes is desired
SQL Server Database administration for MS Windows
Web technologies including Apache and Tomcat
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
The position requires long periods spent in front of a PC.
Evening and weekend hours are required for production system upgrades and configuration changes.
Preferred:
Master’s degree in computer science or related field
Previous work experience in higher education
Oracle DBA OCA or OCP certification
