Regional Medical Officer
Summary
The Regional Medical Officer is responsible for the clinical operations and all medical personnel within a designated region. He or she will do this by maintaining and further developing CareMore’s comprehensive healthcare delivery system that will continuously improve clinical outcomes, member satisfaction and provider satisfaction in an innovative and cost effective fashion. The Regional Medical Officer will be instrumental in the start-up of new regions.
Skills and Abilities
Clinical:
-Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Hospitalist
-Strong background in internal medicine and/or pulmonology
-Substantial knowledge across medical subspecialties
-Clinical confidence
-Friendly bedside manner
-Flexibility and willingness to learn new systems
-Strong communication skills/fluency in English language
Analytic
-1-3 Years of managed care experience
-Proven background in financial and clinical data analysis
-Basic computer skills (i.e. MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
-Problem solving abilities
-Sufficient understanding of the UM/QM process
Leadership
-1-3 Years of experience in a leadership position
-Pleasant temperament
-Flexibility
-Ambition and willingness to grow the organization
-Superior presentation skills
-Tendency to enjoy new challenges and embrace medical innovation
Motivational
-Willingness to mentor and educate M.D.'s, N.P.'s etc.
-Personal skills that include successful interaction with, and motivation of, clinical professionals both inside and outside of the organization
-Ability to internalize the CareMore culture and successfully get buy-ins from clinical professionals both inside and outside of the organization
-Willingness to travel
-Willingness to relocate
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Supervise clinical professionals.
-Provide strategic and operational direction for the delivery of performance based medical management.
-Manage budget and risk drivers.
-Analyze and report business performance data to customers, senior management and the Board of Directors.
-Contribute to the internal and external health industry development efforts.
-Participate in the management of all the clinical divisions within the region.
-Engage in the analysis of local profit and loss performance.
-Work seamlessly and effectively with the non-clinical departments within the organization.
-Develop and maintain strong provider relationships.
-Maintain a customer-driven passion for excellence and commitment to innovation and implementation of ideas that improve the healthcare of the patient population.
-Execute and implement timely and high-quality decisions.
-Hire, develop, and reward staff to effectively support the company’s strategy.
May be asked to perform any of the following clinical duties:
-Round in the hospital
-Conduct conference calls with Case Managers to review patients, and discuss the discharge needs and plans.
-Admit the patients from the ER
-Work with Case Managers in transferring the patients from out of area’ hospitals into network hospitals.
-See patients in the CareMore Care Center, assess patients with falls, give pre operative clearance for patients undergoing surgeries requiring general and spinal anesthesia.
-Assist and mentor Nurse Practitioners by reviewing the cases with them. See the skilled’ patients in the Skilled Nursing Facilities.
-Attend the Skilled Nursing Facilities meetings to review the cases.
-Night and weekend calls as agreed to.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Doctorate. (M.D./ D.O.)
Completion of residency program in the United States
Internal Medicine trained
5+ Years of experience as a Hospitalist
1-3 Years of administrative experience
Board Certification/Eligibility
State license preferred
Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred
