Pharmacist Consultant
Location: Any US Location
Work schedule: Split shift 9am-1pm ET and 5pm-9pm ET (or equivalent based on candidate’s local time zone)
Responsible for supporting disease management programs and physician's care plans through drug therapy evaluation and consultation to program participants. Interventions are aimed to increase compliance with prescribed drug therapies and result in more favorable outcomes. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
Provides evaluation of member’s Rx needs and therapies through review of medication history to determine if medications are appropriate based on diagnosis and concomitant co-morbid conditions.Assesses member compliance with plan through direct contact with members and their physicians.Determines potential barriers to compliance and identifies solutions to overcome barriers.Ensures that members understand appropriate use of current prescriptions.Educates members on possible duplicate therapies, interactions, adverse effects and ineffective therapies.Evaluates use and impact of non-prescribed supplements on therapy and counsels members as appropriate.Reviews medications with physicians when therapies do not meet national standards and counsels physicians around alternative medications.Maintains and enhances positive relationships with clients and responds to a wide variety of pharmacy-related questions.Serves as a resource to the clinical team in disease management and other clinical areas.May conduct research when needed to respond to member or physician inquiries and may be assigned to special project work, such as conducting in-service training or developing applicable protocols.
Qualifications
Requires an RPh; 2 years of clinical experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Current RPh license required. PharmD preferred. Experience with direct patient counseling or education preferred. May require response during non-standard hours.
Fluent and bilingual in Spanish and English a plus.
**Must be able to attend full-time dayshift training Monday through Friday for up to upon hire.
