JOB TITLE: Document Control Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Engineering
REPORTS TO: Director of Engineering
LOCATION: Bay Area

POSITION DESCRIPTION

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Effectively manages all aspects of engineering & manufacturing document control including drawings, bill of materials, and maintains an organized electronic file system for engineering drawings & production drawings in a PDM/PLM system. May assist with new product and process design to ensure adherence to document creation and control process to deliver highly reliable, value-added products for FPI’s customers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Work closely with engineering, quality assurance, and manufacturing to execute engineering and manufacturing document creation, database, and change control processes. Documentation includes, but is not limited to, design drawings and specifications, Bills of Material, manufacturing work instructions, product specifications, quality inspection instructions, and ISO process instructions and forms.

2. Manage document/drawing libraries and PDM/PLM systems in-line with FPI’s drafting and release standards.

3. Create, execute and communicate documentation change orders and product release documentation, including but not limited to ECO’s (engineering change orders) and DN’s (deviation notices).

4. Ensure all required information and elements are available for documentation change orders and product release documentation and follow up with other departments to report and resolve inconsistencies, exceptions and deviations.

5. Provide support and documentation for product improvements and for legacy products when appropriate.

6. Provide drafting support and generate additional support documentation on schedule consistent with provided instruction.

7. Support the management team in refining and enhancing processes for improved accuracy and efficiency.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or associate's degree and 3-4 years’ experience preferred
• Experience reading and understanding drawings, blueprints and technical product specifications.
• Experience with solid modelling packages, preferably SolidWorks
• Experience with PDM (product data management) software
• Experience with PLM (product life cycle management) software
• Experience with ERP (enterprise resource planning) software (preferably Oracle)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
• Strong hands-on mechanical background
• Strong oral and written communication skills using the English language
• Demonstrates strong organizational and communication skills
• Accurate, consistent, assertive, takes ownership & initiative

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to work considerable hours at a computer. Limited domestic and international travel required.
