Job description
The main task of this role is to encourage and promote behavioural based safety amongst all personnel. Reporting to the Q-HSE Manager, the HSE Coordinator will formulate and carry out all tasks needed to ensure the successful execution of all projects on time, within budget and with due regard to HSE and quality including:
- Coordinate Health, Safety, Environment systems effectively within the department.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of relevant HSE documentation and records.
- Ensure compliance with existing legislation and effectively report non-compliance to management.
- Coordinate with all locations to ensure accident, environmental incidents and near misses are reported, investigated and effective action taken.
- Prepare all the relevant documentation associated with audits and inspections.
- Provide support in the development of safety meeting presentations and assists in conducting scheduled safety training sessions.
- Conduct field visits to ensure effective systems are maintained for the identification, assessment and control of all significant hazards.
- Communicate effectively with personnel at all levels within the company.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
- A university degree in engineering, social sciences.
- Previous direct experience as part of a project team in design and/or construction role is an advantage.
- Previous experience of working in Nigeria is preferred.
- A good knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Related safety certifications, courses and training sessions attended.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution preferred but not essential.
- Resides in Lagos.
