The position of Physician Assistant or Nurse practitioner for Medcor is located at a solar project for Blattner Energy in Blythe, California in the Palo Verde Valley. This is a six month assignment starting in May 2015.
The work schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week at the Medcor facility in Blythe. The specific daily hours will be determined upon hiring. This position may require occasional Saturday hours; however, with advanced notice flexibility for additional hours is preferred, as requested by the client.
The PA/NP will provide occupational health services, urgent care and primary care while providing supervision and oversight of the allied healthcare staff. This position will work closely with a part-time physician. Responsibilities also include collaborative work with medical and operational leadership at Medcor, clinic nursing staff and medical assistants, site paramedics, and key contacts within the client’s corporate structure. Close cooperation with the on-site nurse/medical administrator who maintains primary administrative oversight at the clinic will be expected.
The clinic provides a broad scope of services including the diagnosis and treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses, urgent care for non-work related conditions, surveillance and regulatory exams, and preventive services. Basic point-of-care testing as well as send-out lab testing will be provided in this fully equipped clinic.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The general clinical duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
• Assessment and treatment of work related injuries and illnesses.
• Occupational health services including pre-placement exams, medical surveillance (including hearing conservation and respirator fit testing) and drug testing.
• Strong working knowledge of occupational healthcare and California workers’ compensation regulations.
• Oversight and coordination of Blattner’s to Work Program in partnership with the client.
• Provide CPR, First Aid and AED initial and refresher trainings.
• Participate in emergency drills and exercises and collaborate in disaster planning as needed.
• Maintain good communication with client Human Resources and Environmental Safety and Health team.
• Urgent care for minor non-work related illnesses and injuries.
• Initial evaluation and stabilization of patients who present with illnesses or injuries that require a higher level of care or EMS transport.
• Limited primary care for stable chronic conditions with co-ordination of care with community primary care physicians and specialists.
• Provide preventive services such as screenings (diabetes, hypertension and cholesterol), immunizations and well woman exams.
• Discuss patient care with the supervising/collaborative physician, the patient’s primary care physician (where applicable) and other care-givers as appropriate.
• Compliance with CDC guidelines for vaccine storage, handling, and administration.
• Complete and timely documentation of clinical care in the electronic medical record in compliance with Medcor’s documentation standards.

• Prompt and predictable attendance. Exceptional attitude, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to respond to emergencies and crisis situations in a calm, thoughtful, and thorough manner.
• Act as an advocate for the needs of patients as well as the client.
• Assist with the development of additional services and wellness.
• Support client wellness initiatives.
• Strict and consistent adherence to all HIPAA regulations.
• Develop and maintain an excellent working relationship between Medcor and the client.
• Provide timely and accurate documentation and reporting of clinic activities.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed and as requested by the client and Operations Manager.

• Education and Certification requirements:
Required Licensure, Certifications and Experience
• State License in good standing
• American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants (AANP / AAPA) certification
• DEA certification
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS)
•Previous experience in occupational health or emergency medicine, or critical care is required.
Successful candidates will possess solid clinical skills, have at least 2 years' of primary care experience.
Urgent Care, Family practice, Internal Medicine, Hospitalist, Emergency care is a plus.
Hold current unrestricted state licensure / certification, Proficiency with software is required (EMR, MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook) Be self-motivated and display a friendly disposition, Use effective written and verbal communication skills.
