150433 Content Analyst (Vehicle Research)

Our customer located in Troy, MI is seeking a Content Analyst (Vehicle Research) on a long-term contractual basis.

The salary range for this position is dependent upon level of experience.

Summary
Responsible for the support and maintenance of the Auto Care Association’s catalog applications standard for vehicles and parts known as the Aftermarket Catalog Enhanced Standard (ACES). This database is used throughout the vehicle aftermarket to facilitate trade between companies.

Using OEM parts and service information, OEM press releases, OEM vehicle build websites, and auto show material, this position is responsible for researching commercial and passenger car, truck, and van vehicle attributes (sub-models, detailed specifications, engines, transmissions, brake systems, wheelbases, etc.), in context to OEM available options being sold on vehicles. This position requires intimate knowledge of vehicle trim levels, packages, vehicle systems, and vehicle construction across a wide range of years, makes and models.

The research is used to support customer requests submitted to the company through the Auto Care Association’s website regarding past vehicle definitions (typically covering 1980 to the present) for all registered North American vehicles. Some portion will be focused on gathering and researching new vehicles being released in the current year. Duties will also involve reviewing existing data tables of vehicle information and performing a quality review for accuracy.

Qualified candidates will be detail oriented, curious researchers with extensive knowledge of vehicle configurations and solid basic office computer skills.

The position is part of a six member team and is directly responsible to the Auto Care Services Manager.

Responsibilities
• Research vehicle information from OEM and aftermarket sources (sources: dealership parts systems, OEM web sites, press materials, auto show material).
• Interpret OEM marketing brochures and other materials for vehicle configuration information.
• Relate vehicle systems to vehicles to construct valid vehicle configurations reflecting all available options.
• Enter vehicle information changes to Auto Care’s VCdb database.
• Organize and track multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Respond verbally or via email to Auto Care subscriber concerns related to vehicle data such as vehicle application concerns, part attributes, classification in taxonomies.

Required Experience & Qualifications
• Ability to describe vehicle parts and mechanical functions using standard terminology in the automotive industry.
• Familiarity of vehicles across years, makes, and models.
• Strong understanding of vehicle nomenclature.
• Strong understanding of vehicle configuration standards.
• Automotive industry experience such as a parts analyst, service advisor, technician, estimator or technical writer.

Computer Skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications:
o Excel: ability to create spreadsheets of data and analyze the data through the use of filters.
o Word: ability to create basic documents of research findings.
o Outlook: ability to create and manage emails.
• Ability to use internet search engines to find creditable reference information to support vehicle research.

Other Skills
• Problem solving skills with a drive to continue searching until confident in answers.
• Self-motivated, results-oriented team player.
• Ability to conform to generally accepted office procedures (work at desk for extended amount of time, dress appropriately, collaborate with others).
• Ability to work within deadlines while maintaining quality of work.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented approach to completeness and accuracy.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications
• Associate’s Degree / Trade Degree or relevant certifications (ASE certifications).
• Microsoft Access experience with building tables and queries.
• Experience using OE dealership parts and service systems, or parts catalogs to reference service information.
• Passionate car enthusiast.
