Sales Application Engineer
Chicago, IL
Compensation: $75K to $100K range
We are a small subsidiary of a leading global manufacturer of process equipment serving a variety of industries. We are known for high quality, good product knowledge, and a deep understanding of our customers’ needs. Although we base our equipment on our European parent company’s design standards, we operate independently with equipment design, manufacturing, sales, and service in the western suburbs of Chicago.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Applications Engineer provides sales, marketing, and project support for capital equipment orders. This includes reviewing technical and commercial specifications, sizing equipment, calculating costs, preparing proposals, and providing general technical and project support to customers and company management.
Requirements:
At least three years of experience in applications engineering or e similar role, preferably in machinery or capital equipment. You are well organized and able to keep multiple proposals moving through the pipeline at the same time. Able to get things done in a timely manner, both as an individual and by soliciting support from other members of the team.
•Review detailed bid specifications and quote requests.
•Work hand-in-hand with sales to prepare technically correct and commercially complete proposals.
•Work closely with customers and sales representatives to understand our customers’ processes and determine the appropriate solution for each application.
•Using company standard programs, calculate preliminary equipment sizing.
•Liaise closely with other engineers to develop application expertise and share experience.
•Respond to customer’s technical questions and concerns.
•Travel as needed (10-20%) to customer sites, industry meetings, and trade shows.
•Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
