Senior Manager Financial Audit
Responsible for overseeing and / or conducting integrated financial, operational and S-Ox audits. Reports Director Internal Audit in developing and preparing corporate risks assessments, audit plans and developing and establishing a dynamic internal audit department
Duties include, but are not limited to developing risk-based audit programs, testing controls, preparing work-papers, documenting findings, and communicating results.
Responsible for establishing the audit objectives and time budget for assigned audits and monitoring the progress of the assigned audits and reviewing the work-papers and reports prepared by he and his staff.
Responsible for providing guidance and leadership in areas such as professional training, report writing and presentation, time management, and communication.
Responsible for monitoring weekly budget to actual time budgets. He is responsible for preparing the follow-up and reporting the monthly Outstanding Audit Findings report. Responsible for two direct reports - Senior Internal Auditors.
Reviewing and / or performing financial, operational, and S-Ox audits to include:
Planning and organizing audit assignments within budget and meeting realistic deadlines;
•Developing / adapting audit programs based upon the principles of risk assessment and data analysis;
•Interviewing business and process owners;
•Process / controls testing in an efficient and effective manner; Analyzing data;
•Communicating audit findings in the form of audit reports, memoranda, and PowerPoint presentations;
•Preparing timekeeping and audit status reports; and. Preparing ad hoc reports as requested.
•Assisting Director and VP Internal Audit in the management and training of the staff.
Keeps professionally current with respect to changes in accounting pronouncements (FASB’s), Internal Controls Frameworks (COSO) and auditing standards (AS 5) and business trends ( leading practices ), as appropriate. Maintains professional certifications (CPA, CIA) by earning Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits.
Continuously works to increase understanding of business model and processes and wireless industry developments and contribute to corporate goals to increase revenue and subscribers and to decrease costs.
Responsible for reviewing existing and proposing new audit programs / strategies / policies, as assigned. May be a contributor to design / development of same.
Must evaluate effectiveness of internal controls in order to safeguard company assets and support Sarbanes Oxley 302 Executive Certifications;
Must perform testing and evaluate key process documentation to comply with 404 of the Sarbanes Oxley Act as prescribed by the relevant S-Ox auditing standards (e.g. AS 5, etc.);
Must evaluate accounting policies employed by the Company to ensure compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and América Móvil Accounting Manual;
MUS determine how to best perform audits of given areas in an efficient and effective manner;
•Must evaluate procedures and practices in the context of Leading Practices for business, especially the telecommunication / wireless industry; and
•must identify areas for potential revenue enhancement, subscriber growth, and cost savings and recoveries.
•Incumbent’s audit observations and recommendations may be included in audit communications (formal, informal, and ad hoc audit reports and memorandum) to all management levels of the organization to include the Executive Management, América Móvil Corporate Audit, the América Móvil Audit Committee of the Board of Directors, and the external independent auditors Ernst & Young.
QUALIFICATIONS
•Four year university degree, major in accounting (preferred) or business administration
•Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
•Minimum of ten years of audit / accounting experience in a large public or corporate environment including a minimum of five years of supervisory experience at a Manager level.
•The ability to work under minimal supervision and self-direct de novo audits of a complex nature in a fast paced environment. Ability to plan, monitor and review the work of a professional audit staff.
•Ability to coordinate and manage multiple audits. Ability to supervise and train professional audit staff.
•Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw logical valid, and supported conclusion
•Ability to confidently present audit findings to Senior Management and respond to questions.
•Familiarity with the principles of financial analysis and statistical techniques
•Computer literate with high level of proficiency in MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
•Familiarity with Oracle Financials and computer assisted audit tools (e.g. ACL) is highly desirable
•Familiarity with telecommunications industry, especially wireless, a plus
•Must have thorough understanding of accounting and auditing principles (i.e. GAAP, GAAS, S-Ox AS)
•Must have thorough understanding of business processes and practices
•Incumbent must have excellent English language communication skills (both verbal and written)
