Systems Administrator AS400
Responsible for the daily operations relating to our IBM AS400 infrastructure globally, and also provides installation support for the applications teams.
Provide quality operations support with a high degree of customer service, technical expertise and timeliness adhering to both security and technical standards.
Reports to the Manager of Global Server Computing, which is part of the Infrastructure Operations group in Operations and Support. Interfaces regularly with other O&S groups as well as with Business Unit IT groups.
Requirements:
BS Degree in Computer Science
•Sound knowledge and experience of supporting varying levels of IBM’s AS400 Operating Systems and license programs.
•Solid knowledge and experience working with the AS400 infrastructure components.
•Knowledge of Hardware Management Console (HMC).
•Knowledge of AS400 Virtualization.
•Experience of IBM WebSphere Message Queue (MQ)
•Experience of AS400 Security Management & Communications.
•Experience of building and supporting logical partitions.
•Experience of Operating System Upgrades and PTF deployment.
•Experience of Independent Auxiliary Storage Pools (iASP’s).
•Experience of Storage Based Replication (IBM Global/Metro Mirror)
•5+ years of experience supporting IBM AS400 systems with multiple logical partitions (LPAR’s).
•Experience of working for financial organizations.
•Full appreciation for use of documented processes and procedures.
•Knowledge of the additional software below would be advantageous;
oEnterprise Security Manager (Enforcive BSafe)
oCCSS QSystem & QMessage Monitor
Responsibilities:
•To maintain maximum availability of our IBM AS400 server environment using expected administration activities:
oMessage log review Performance measurement Capacity monitoring and recommendation
oFault diagnosis to resolution System administration Maintenance tasks
oBackup status review Tape media management
Assist with PTF management - testing and deployment
AS400 related project work Application installations/patching
oPlanned weekend or evening work
oEmergency weekend or evening work
•Knowledge of Windows and Unix operating system administration would be a distinct advantage
•Work with Global Service Desk, Application Support, Operations Center and Local IT Support groups as necessary for incident and request resolution.
•Enhance and develop quality support methods.
•Provide status reports to Management, as required.
•Maintain and enhance documentation and operating procedures and processes.
•Respond and action incident, request, change tickets coming in the team’s queue within the established SLAs.
•Keep updated with new technology available in the industry.
