Senior Applications Developer - Java
JAVA Developer:
•3-5 years experience with JAVA Technologies(J2EE,Web Sphere 7.0+, Tomcat, Eclipse, open source RDBMS DB (MYSQL, postgre, etc DB2, HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, PHP, CYGWIN)
•Proficient in Linux Development and general use of the operating system
•Extensive knowledge and familiarity with source control systems (CVS,SVN)
•Proficient in distributed application execution (X11, vnc, rlogin, ssh, xdmcp)
Preferred:
•Websphere Commerce
•Caching
•Solr
Minimal travel may be required
Responsibilities includes full System Development Life Cycle and application support functions. Quality control processes are integrated through out the SDLC.
Duties involves interaction with multiple systems, and interfacing with the users
Responsibility to define, document, and continually improve the processes and methods used within the department.
Project Management •Create and use project management techniques and methods, including time management, to manage assignments
•Define and capture quality metrics throughout the project acting as project leader
•Determine complete requirements of a project through interviews and technical analysis. Obtains agreement on project definition and scope
•Define data requirements for the project and insures acceptable data management standards and processes are adhered to
•Define technical Process requirements considering user interfaces and procedural impact
•Define implementation/integration requirements and timelines
•Obtain agreement on project requirements
•Create application design that meets project requirements and adheres to departmental standards
•Define application workflow, control points and recovery processes
•Update logical data model and create physical database design and/or modification
•Draft implementation process including conversion and hardware issues
•Complete module/component design and definition
Complete Application Development •Compose efficient programs insuring adherence to departmental standards
•Conduct unit testing insuring project requirements and departmental standards are met
•Coordinate project testing and implementation processes
•Assembles and executes integrated systems tests to ensure that all system components effectively operate together
•Insures performance and user interfaces are acceptable Complete Project Implementation
•Plan project implementation in such a manner as to minimize interruptions to affected activities and to ensure smooth operations
•Execute project implementation using normal change control processes and departmental procedures
•Conduct post implementation follow up to ensure the system meets expectations
•Completes all required documentation in a timely manner
Production Support •Research and resolve production issues in a timely and effective manner
•Conduct basic training, as needed, of applications and system functions
•Effectively recommends to users, alternatives which make their areas more efficient/cost effective
•Communicates with all levels of the organization in a professional and courteous manner
•Recommends improvements to departmental policies and procedures
•Uses good planning and judgment to plan, execute, and complete assignments in a timely manner
•Demonstrate leadership abilities and a positive attitude in motivating other project members and user community
Requirements
BS Degree in Computer Science or related business field or a two-year degree combined with suitable work experience.
•Must have good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all management levels.
•Excellent organization skills
•Able to work independently or in a team environment with little supervision
•Working knowledge of Object-oriented concepts
•Proficient in MS Word and Excel products
