Material and Contract Services, Inc., the industry leader in purchasing and supply chain solutions has a career opportunity for a Senior Logistics Supervisor. The length of the contract will be contract to hire. Local candidates only.
Reporting to Logistics Manager, this position will supervise the Logistics Department, setting objectives and determining direction for direct and indirect labor in the logistics areas including finished goods packaging, inventory, warehouse and distribution management. Supervisor is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers in accordance to the quality policies.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Manages the daily activities associated with shipping and receiving goods and returns in the warehouse including unloading, stocking, picking, packing, loading, scheduling, and performing SAP transactions.
Manages the daily activities associated with delivering materials to the production lines including unpacking, binning, kanban, scheduling, and performing SAP transactions.
Manages the daily activities associated with packaging finished goods materials from the production lines including packing, labeling, scheduling, and performing SAP transactions.
Manages the sterilization process associated with transportation and product release including, paletizing, shipping, scheduling, and product release at the distrubution centers
Ensures materials are stored and handled according to material specifications and in a manner that ensures control, and prevents damage, degradation or mixed work.
Ensure assigned cycle counts are done on time and accurately.
Assumes responsibility to resolve issues related to kind, count or condition as received into the plant.
Monitor the quality, cost and efficiency of the movement and storage of goods internally and externally.
Define metric reports for key performance parameters.
Analyze logistical processes and problems and identify, prioritize, coach and lead continuous improvement efforts utilizing Six Sigma and Lean tools. Report project plans, progress, and results.
Direct team activities, establishing task priorities, scheduling and tracking work assignments, providing guidance, and ensuring the availability of resources.
Interacts with peers, managers, and senior management to develop consensus supporting logistics strategies and projects and ensures implementation of best practices.
Develop and maintain internal systems to ensure compliance with quality standards (FDA, cGMP, QSR, ISO). Implement corrective actions as assigned.
Fosters a culture of compliance by operating within guidelines and procedures, leading by example, and focusing on risk assessment and elimination.
Coordinate change (CR), temporary authorities (TCR), and NCR activities as required.
Assists with departmental cost reduction activity and reports project plans, progress, and results when assigned.
Demonstrates adept use of SAP, PDM, HRConnect, LMS and BW.
Demonstrates adept project management skills, including project chartering, timeline development and management of deliverables.
Skilled and experienced in effective training techniques.
Assists with department budget activities.
Reports summary performance to management and elevates appropriately.
Establishes and maintains effective relationships with internal customers.
Lead the selection of hiring new logistics employees, develop staff through training, coaching and mentoring and establish succession planning for direct reports.
Creates and executes short term goals consistent with long term objective by utilizing the ePADR and performance management process.
Qualifications
Associate’s Degree and 5 years of supervisory/management experience in Operations/Materials or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or work experience. Bachelor’s degree very desirable. SAP experience preferred. APICS certification desired.
Strong MS Office skills. Able to create documents, spreadsheets, graphs, presentations and project schedules.
Experience using lean tools such as kanbans, heijunka, pull systems, value stream mapping, kaizen, 5S, etc.
Demonstrates continuous drive to improve skill sets and professional qualifications. Seeks out increasingly challenging assignments.
Solves problems/drive projects with increasingly ambiguous information or possible outcomes.
Strong written and oral communications skills, i.e. presentations.
Strong analytical skills.
Working experience in the medical device industry is a plus.
