Key Responsibilities:
• Application code migration & configuration migration, to move to the latest versions of app servers (for a number of existing applications, running on different app servers including JBoss, WAS etc.).
• Required technology frameworks / components upgrade for open source & enterprise components.
• Identification of impact of upgrade on downstream & upstream systems.
• Impact analysis, target platform compatibility analysis.
• Documentation of remediation & migration steps.
• Conduct peer reviews.
• Lead a team of offshore developers for migration.
• Regular status updates, participation in status meeting, issues/risks identification & escalation, co-ordination with multiple teams (Application Engineering / QA / App Support team / Architecture team).
• Support functional and performance testing.
• Performance fixes & improvements.
Qualifications:
• Experienced tech lead / application designer with hands on experience in working with Java/J2EE based applications.
• Experience on JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 5.x or higher; & Websphere Application Servers 8.x or higher.
• Excellent knowledge/understanding of Java/J2EE frameworks and application designs / architectures using these frameworks.
• Excellent analytical & troubleshooting skills are a must.
• Understanding of deployment architectures & topologies.
• Experience in UI technologies JSF 1.x / 2.x (required), RichFaces, PrimeFaces, Tomhawk, Ajax.
• Experience in open source frameworks Spring 3.x or higher, Apache Commons.
• Experience in data access technologies Hibernate 3.x or higher, JDBC, JPA.
• Experience with SOA technologies Web-services (SOAP), Apache-Axis.
• Experience of working with build tools & automated builds Maven, Apache Ant, Jenkins.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work on multiple applications in parallel, on different technology tracks.
• Any migration experience on JBoss & WAS will be an added plus.
• Experience with performance tuning & profiling will be an added plus.
