JOB DESCRIPTION:
CERTIFICATIONS ARE A MUST
Must be able to come in and hit the job running, no real training provided
Works with team, some travel necessary, no remote workers
Primary Function:
The Technical Support Engineers will be responsible for assisting field service engineers and customers in support of complex networking and wireless implementations of hardware and software.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Communicate frequently with GE MDS Customers, Partners, and Integrators to deliver technical support for GE MDS products, applications, and systems
• Training and training development on a variety of GE MDS products and applications
• Communicate with all areas of GE MDS in supporting, Partners, Integrators and Customers, including Sales, Technology, Product Services, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and any others as required, to resolve customer technical issues
• Follow through with resolving product- and system-level technical problems and system design requirements
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems preferred. In lieu of Bachelors degree, an Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field with one or more of the following certifications or equivalent will be acceptable:
o Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
o Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
o Information Systems Security Engineering Professional (ISSEP)
o Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
WORK EXPERIENCE:
3-5 years experience in network engineering required. Comprehensive experience in troubleshooting complex network issues to determine root cause.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
• Experience with all L1, L2 and L3 design concepts, management and troubleshooting
• In-depth knowledge of Firewalls, Access Control lists ad Security Protocols including RADIUS.
• Proven experience with LAN, WAN and VPN design and implementation
• Current and working knowledge of routing and switching hardware and protocols
• Experience in VPN, IPSEC concepts and practices
• Familiarity with Internet standards and advanced network architecture
• Proven understanding of NAT, Port Forwarding, WiFi, DHCP and Spanning Tree
• Working knowledge of common operating systems (Linux/Unix/Microsoft)
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of personnel both internally ad externally
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously working with minimum supervision
• Analytical skills and broad conceptual judgment, initiative, and ability to respond to and deal with technical and customer-relations issues
