Consulting Engineering firm looking for a Bridge Engineer in Baltimore.
Manage tasks and projects for highway transportation structures, including bridges and ancillary structures
Oversee the design structural components of box culverts, retaining walls and related structures
Develop Contract Bid Packages of plans, specifications and engineer's construction cost estimate
Develop details of bridge components for contracts drawings
Understand and develop construction sequencing
Perform Load Ratings
Oversee and perform bridge inspections as a Team Leader
Review bridge inspection reports
Participate in project meetings and write minutes of such meetings
Some client contact that will be handled in a professional manner
Track Project Budge and costs
Strong understanding of Project Scope and identifying work that is outside of project scope
Develop man-hour estimates
Understand the requirements of other disciplines and how they impact the project
Day-to-day management of projects for the bridge department, including structural design and analysis and development of contract documents.
Supervise and mentor less experienced engineers. Supervise CADD Technicians developing plan sets
Coordinate and work with engineers in other disciplines
Be able to communicate via spoken and written word with other technical and non-technical personnel
The candidate shall maintain and improve their technical expertise by reading trade journals, publications and attending webinars and seminars. He/she is encouraged to be active in professional and technical organizations. He/she is expected to be attentive for marketing leads and report them to the Department Manager. He/she may be asked to assist in writing Technical Proposals and developing man-hour estimates.
Skills: Must know Microsoft Office and be knowledgeable in structural programs such as Merlin Dash, Conspace, DESCUS, RC Pier, STAAD, L-Pile, etc. Must be knowledgeable in various codes such as AASHTO, ACI, AISC, PCI, etc. Knowledge of Microstation a plus.
Minimum Qualifications: Professional Engineer in Maryland or ability to obtain via reciprocity with a minimum of 15 years bridge experience. NBIS two-week Bridge Inspector's Course and Fracture Critical Member Inspection Course a plus.
Education/Certifications: B.S. in Civil Engineering. M.S. in Civil Engineering preferred.
