The Product Engineer will be a champion of assigned APQP activities for estimates, Engineering changes and new programs by monitoring assigned programs ensuring that action plans, timelines and customer requirements are met and/or exceeded.
Primary Responsibilities for Product Engineer:
* Act as champion of assigned program APQP activities and maintain all systems.
* Monitor assigned programs ensuring that action plans, time lines, and customer requirements are met and/or exceeded by initiating schedules for APQP team meetings.
* Responsible for chairing the program management review meetings to ensure that all departments are maintaining their portion of the master schedule.
* Participate in reviews regarding product concept and design, offering constructive input about manufacturing feasibility and viability as well as options to achieve best in class processes and products
* Participate in regular discussions with external customers, Buyers, Design Release Engineers, SQE, Product Design Engineering, and Sales/Advanced Engineering to offer best possible solutions and ensure understanding of product performance requirements.
* Generate and justify program budget and execute once approved.
* Actively participate in Continuous Improvement and TS 16949 activities.
* Control and track assigned programs financial status for tooling, capital and manufacturing parts.
* Maintain positive employee relations and address issues in timely manner. Seek advice/counsel from appropriate sources as required.
* Provide sales, engineering, and technical assistance to customers and Account Managers by providing technical and presentation support, i.e., sales calls, technical reviews and customer presentations, test data review, etc.
* Develop manufacturing costs and timing for assigned RFQ's/Programs and assists in obtaining appropriate management approvals.
Minimum Requirements for Product Engineer:
1. BS in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering
2. At least 3 years of product quality experience in a manufacturing environment
3. At least 2 years of customer interaction
Required Skills and Experience
1. Demonstrated experience with PPAP, APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, and root cause analysis
2. Product launch experience
3. Strong analytical and problem solving skills
4. Self-starter, independent but able to function in a team environment
5. Advanced planning, organizing, and decision making skills
