Location: New Orleans Louisiana Area

Company is a specialty chemical company manufacturing and marketing polymer additives around the world.
The Technical Service Chemist reports to the Technical Service Manager/Americas. This person is responsible for the following:
* Synthesis of intermediates and heat stabilizers and preparation of polymer compounds for testing and sampling.
* Chemical analysis and characterization of the intermediates and heat stabilizers
* Testing of the polymer compounds in accordance with the established procedures
* Reporting/Communicating test results.
* Operation of laboratory compounding and testing equipment.
* Assistance with maintaining the applications lab chemical inventory; ordering the supplies.
* Support of and participation in ongoing laboratory improvement initiatives, housekeeping (including washing glassware), and sample disposal.
* Support of technology group initiatives and a safe working environment
* Occasional support of Quality Control laboratory as needed.
Candidate Profile
* 2 - 3 years hands on laboratory experience as Chemist or similar roles in chemical manufacturing environment.
* At least a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry is preferred.
* Must have excellent technical, interpersonal, and communication skills, including computer literacy in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
* Analytical skills geared towards problem solving.
* Knowledge of laboratory equipment with the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues
* Able to work and deliver on deadlines and to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively; detail-oriented; acts with a sense of urgency.
* Must be able to speak. Senses of sight, touch, smell and hearing, including extensive use of the hands are required in conducting overall job responsibilities. Ability to work in chemical laboratory environment. Ability to distinguish and differentiate colors; extensive standing 60%; walking, and sitting 20 - 40%; Some climbing, bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, pushing, carrying, and lifting up to 50 lbs.; wearing protective equipment.
