The Quality Engineer provides expert support to the plant through the use of various quality assurance tools and methods to continuously improve processes that ensure the safe and efficient production of a consistent quality product. Leads, facilitates, and implements various projects and actions that improve the ISO9001 Quality Management. Effectively interacts with operator level personnel as primary source for quality control decisions. Support the Company's safety objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Active participation in plant quality & safety initiatives and projects.
2. Measures and analyzes the capability of manufacturing processes through the use of Six Sigma tools and methods to carry out quantifiable improvements projects.
3. Communicates with customers regarding product quality problems and corrective actions.
4. Manages the plant calibration system including equipment inventory, annual calibration, measurement capability studies and interfacing with test equipment suppliers for needed repairs or new equipment purchases.
5. Leads, facilitates, and assists in the corrective and preventive action process.
6. Evaluates product and develops the appropriate data collection and analysis methods required for customer reporting and/or process improvement projects.
7. Creates and maintains Control Plans, Work and Test Instructions, FMEA, and quality system procedures and the quality training of those.
8. As the technical point-of-reference on the production floor, provides sound and accurate decisions on product quality for questions and observations that may arise.
9. Assists in the review, revising, and/or creation of customer specifications, internal and/or external.
10. Assists in the coordination, implementation, and oversight of the QC Hub system.
11. Assists Process Engineers and Supervisors in the use of quality improvement techniques.
12. Support achievement of the plant's safety, scrap, service, lean & 5S, and quality goals.
13. Acts as the Quality leader in the Quality Manager's absence.
Position Specifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
Five (5) years of quality systems or control experience.
Proficient with ISO9001 or equivalent.
Ability to perform statistical analysis and good mathematical skills. Six Sigma Green Belt training.
Experience with Microsoft Office applications and statistical software (i.e. Minitab, etc.)
Ability to work with individuals and teams.
Limited travel for customer visits.
