JOB SUMMARY:
Prepares, processes, embeds, cuts, and stains tissue preparations of material derived from the human body to provide material to a pathologist for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Prepares immunohistochemical clinical laboratory examinations including antigen detection testing and related immunohistological procedures including quality control and validation studies. May assist in autopsy procedures or cytology preparation procedures as appropriate.
As part of the job description of all employees, the employee may be directed to render services within the scope of his/her job description to an affiliate pursuant to an arrangement between the two entities. In such instances, the employee will be acting within the scope of his/her employment by the Authority, as an employee whose services have been leased to the affiliated entity.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1 Associate in Science in histology preferred
2. Bachelor degree in clinical laboratory science, one of the specialty areas, or one of chemical or biological science preferred
3. ASCP certified or eligible as a histotechnician or histotechnologist
4. Two years of experience preferred
5. Customer relation skills, with an attitude and demeanor consistent with the delivery of excellent customer service
