Exciting opportunities exist for the right individuals to join a progressive non-profit organization as a Support Worker in our Children and Youth Department. The position entails working in specialized residential settings with individuals who are diagnosed with developmental delays, PICA, FASD as well as Autism, OCD and challenging behaviors.
The ideal candidate must have experience supporting youth with complex behaviours and an understanding of the challenges present for verbal and non-verbal youth with Autism, challenging behaviors and other diagnosis. You must possess knowledge of positive behavioural support strategies, visual support strategies, sensory support strategies, medication administration, critical thinking skills, have the ability to write reports and complete the necessary documentation, as well as maintain boundaries, provide daily structure and consistently follow the support plan outlined within a warm and supportive environment.

We are also looking to fill casual positions at our locations in Richmond, North Vancouver, Surrey, Burnaby, and Vancouver. In order to qualify for a casual position candidates must be available for 3 shift a week including one on the weekend.
The successful applicant must have the following skills:
-Experience with developmental disabilities, mental health, autism and other disorders
-Experience with challenging behaviours and behaviour management strategies
-Experience working in a team environment with little supervision
-Experience with dealing with emergency situations
-Experience with providing structure to an individual in care
-Personal care
-Behaviour management
-Community activities and integration
-Physical activities
-Medication
-Crisis management
-Autism experience
Must be able to obtain:
-Criminal record check
-Negative TB test
-First Aid and CPR Certificate
-3 references
-Food Safe Certificate
-Mandt Certificate-given through Strive
-Class 5 driver’s license, reliable vehicle and a clean driver’s abstract
Compensation: $17.44, plus benefits upon meeting eligibility requirements.
