Our Troy, MI customer is seeking an experienced Purchasing Analyst (Tooling) for a contract-to-hire (min. 6 months or direct hire at an open salary range. NO SPONSORSHIP. Job Overview:
The candidate will be involved with the tooling required at the plant to manufacture the company’s finished goods. The primary focus will be injection molding tools, but will also involve tooling for other areas such as stampings and metal components. The candidate will work with company’s Purchasing Team, Design Team, and Team at the Plant.
• Candidate will request quotes, organize information for purchasing decisions, and make recommendations for purchases.
• Purchasing both new tools, as well as components, needed to repair existing tools.
• The candidate will interface with both customers and vendors.
• Work with the Purchasing team, Design team and the plant for support with raw materials and tooling for the company’s manufactured products
• Create, track, and organize reports
• Meet with vendors as needed
• Help with developing new raw material and tooling sources
• Help negotiate contract pricing
• Help with expediting raw materials and tooling
Requirements:
• A background with mold making or tool room activities. The candidate will need to understand cavitation, capacity, steel quality and the impact of plating as it relates to tools.
• Experience with tool cost estimating is required.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings (blueprints) and specifications as it relates to both products and tools is required.
• Minimum of 5 years’ of experience in the manufacturing and/or automotive industry is required.
• Experience with 3D modeling software
• The ability to negotiate contracts is necessary.
• Computer skills with strong knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point and Project are required.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
• Demonstrates ability to clearly communicate both internally and externally.
• A proven track record of problem solving, critical thinking, and performing under pressure.
• Completion of assigned projects in allotted time with expected results.
• Support of Company goals and business objectives.
