Our Auburn Hills, MI customer is seeking (3) experienced Project Managers (Global, large capital projects) for direct hire positions at salary ranges of $90,000-$120,000 plus bonus eligibility. Reports to the Director of Project & Systems Engineering.

Summary: Responsible for managing major capital expenditure (flat glass engineering/glass furnaces, etc.) projects for a manufacturing company (not an engineering firm). Responsible for managing 3-10 people, managing a $10-$50 million projects; taking on portions of the projects (not a paper pusher ), forecasting, managing scope of projects, budgets, RFQs, negotiating from initial budget to execution to turning over to the plant. This is an interactive-management position.
Responsibilities:
•Lead interface with global, regional, and facility teams to develop the scope, budget, schedule milestones, and resource (internal and external) requirements for large CAP-EX projects
•Work with Engineering, Regional and Facility Leaders to establish Project Team Members and roles
•Manage the scope, budget, and schedule throughout the project and document, justify and get approvals for any significant changes
•Establish and track project benchmarks and overall documentation requirements
•Provide Management with project status reports as needed
•Directly participate in a significant portion of the project which adds the most value to the Project Team
•Prepare project specifications, RFQs, contractor analysis, and selection; contractor and contract management is required
•Will effectively support the development of global large capital project scopes and budgets, and then lead the execution of the project safely on schedule, within budget, and with minimal start-up issues
Requirements:
•Bachelors’ of Science Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering Degree is HIGHLY preferred; (will not consider a Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or an Engineering Technology Degree, however.) Some advance education or training (degree not required) in project management, financial management, and negotiating strategies is a major plus.
•5-15 years’ (max) of Project Management and Engineering experience is required (for the experienced level positions) from small engineering firms, construction mgt. cos, steel and cement industries work best (industrial background). FYI: 1 position has to have 10-15 years’ exp while the other position can be 5 years and up. Does not want anyone from energy, oil/gas, or petro chemical; nor do they want anyone from KBR, Jacobs, Mustang, Baker Hughes as they are too big of companies that candidates would be bored here). Must not have just worked on project-based projects wants tenure at companies. Doesn’t have to have flat glass experience.
•Proven track record of successfully executing large capital projects ($10-$50 million projects) is required. International experience is preferred, but not required
•Knowledge of building, electrical and mechanical systems is preferred. Doesn’t have to be a building expert.
•Ability to management schedules, budgets, manage indirect reporting team members, and someone self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment is required.
•Strong technical knowledge to design, specify, procure, install and start-up systems
•Skilled to predict, recognize, and effectively solve problems and interferences
•Communicate effectively (verbal and written) within the department, regional, and global organizations. Fluent in English.
•Ability to drive results through influencing others without having direct authority
•Travel internationally when needed (likely 30%-40%), so needs valid Passport. Will have to be at customer sites for 1-2 weeks prior to and after the implementation including an average of 3 months for the implementation. Generally, they send PMs home, every 3 weeks for short periods of time, to see their families and/or have the family visit them.
