Basic Function:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for analyzing, identifying, and delivering improvements in current and new manufacturing processes resulting in cost reductions, increased reliability and manufacturability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Evaluate and identify areas of improvement for yield, material, cost reduction, and capacity enhancement.
2. Develop and improve manufacturing processes.
3. Design and improve tooling and equipment in order to reduce cost and/or increase capacity.
4. Design in detail, fixtures, tooling, and production equipment.
5. Work closely with engineers and manufacturing personnel to develop cost effective solutions for manufacturing processes.
6. Evaluate, validate, and document manufacturing processes and procedures.
7. Perform other duties as required.
Education and Skills:
1. BS Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and/or a minimum of 7 years of industry related experience.
2. Experience in precision metal fabrication and machining processes.
3. Experience in brazing, welding, metallurgy, and coatings, is desirable.
4. Project planning skills including the ability to write clear, concise work instructions, create and maintain schedules, and coordinate production activities.
5. Ability to work on multiple complex projects while maintaining schedule.
6. Proficiency in solid modeling, drafting, GD&T, and tolerance stack up.
7. Demonstrated ability in the use of Lean Sigma, Theory of Constraints, and/or Lean Manufacturing desirable.
8. Strong English written and verbal communication skills to interface with suppliers, customers, sales, planning, purchasing, quality, engineering and management.
9. Good documentation skills required for drawings, bill of material lists, and process work instructions.
10. CAD skills: SolidWorks or equivalent.
11. Personal computer skills (MS-word, Excel, Access, MS-Project, Lotus Notes, Visio) on PCs required.
