Demand Planner
Location: Orange County, California
The Demand Planner will be responsible for developing a process, evaluating, and presenting to Director of Materials sales, demand data, and analysis as it pertains to forecasting. This position will also be responsible for implementing sales forecasts, inventory plans for distribution in North Carolina and International manufacturing and distribution in the Netherlands, Turkey, China and Canada, and the development of a process within the Planning Department. Utilization of demand planning software and statistical tools in order to improve forecast accuracy is key.
•The Demand Planner uses historical data, statistical models, and forecast information from Sales, Customer Service, & Marketing to use as inputs in the volume planning process.
•Provide statistical analysis of strategic demand plans, including what-if scenario modeling and decision support of different demand plan options.
•Develop and maintain statistical models using John Galt statistical forecasting tools to generate a forecast. Work closely with Sales force and Customer Service to capture all customer requirements and market trends. Merge statistical data and market intelligence to finalize a complete picture of sales forecast.
•Review & monitor forecasts compared to current tactical plans, production schedules and supply shipments. Make forecast adjustments when appropriate.
•Develop metrics to measure the effectiveness of demand planning.
•Develop predictive models & control scheme to capture changes in demand.
•Monitor sales forecasts vs. actual sales, inventory levels, and production schedules for deviations from plan.
•Appropriately, highlight forecast issues and risks to Director of Materials.
•Develop and maintain strong system knowledge to leverage company tools in forecasting demand.
•Work closely with Sales, Customer Service, and Supply Chain organizations to reduce demand variability and align supply chain design with demand patterns.
•Assist in defining, standardizing, & implementing demand planning best practice business processes across the organization.
•Responsible for the effective use of the MRP system and maintaining the availability of A, B, and C inventory class items. Planning parameters to manage safety stock, minimum and maximum order quantity maintenance required in accordance with corporate inventory objectives.
•Provides Production Planning with Stock Transfer forecasts when required.
Requirements •3 to 5 years’ experience in Supply Chain operations, Sales/Marketing, Forecasting, or MRP II (either in a technical role or process role).
•Bachelor’s Degree
•APICS (CPIM) certification a plus.
•Strong analytical, data management and communication skills.
•Results oriented and able to influence outcomes in a cross-functional team environment.
•Demonstrated knowledge of time series forecast models and how they are used in volume forecasting.
•AS400 operating system knowledge helpful.
•Responsible for the constant maintenance of effective planning consistent with the proper use of resources and is responsible for reviewing all planning commitments to customer service.
•The incumbent is responsible for the development of the monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals as well as reporting the production performance of these goals. This position is also responsible for the maintenance of the planning parameters and appropriate lead-time in the AS400 and Manufacturing system to supply sales/customer service with accurate information.
•Ability to travel from various company facilities
•Basic understanding of production environment and maybe required to perform tasks as a production planner.
