The Commercial Application Engineer (CAE) is a consultative, technical sales professional responsible for supporting key Electrical Consultants (power system designers) that serve the

Commercial-Institutional-Government marketplace. The CAE must possess both strong technical and commercial skills. The CAE must have expert application and product knowledge in Electrical Power Distribution, Power Quality, Power Control, Power Reliability and Power Monitoring.

The CAE is expected to develop and sustain relationships with Principals, Lead Electrical Engineers and staff Engineers at targeted Electrical Consulting firms, and other designated firms in his/her market. The CAE is expected to achieve a position of a broad-based, trusted Technical Advisor to the targeted firms. At the discretion of the District Manager, the CAE may also be assigned key Institution (University/Hospital) or Municipal (WWT/Transportation) accounts. With the approval of the Zone Manager and Application Engineer Manager, the CAE may be asked to directly support the Sales Engineer on specific Industrial accounts in his/her market.

The CAE position does not have an individual sales objective, or loading’. By focusing his/her efforts on the Electrical Consultant and influencing the Consultants specification for a specific project, the CAE will position our company to be in an advantageous position to obtain the equipment order wherever the order is placed. The benefits of the CAE’s effort may not always be realized by the local sales team/district/zone.

The CAE must be familiar with competitive product offerings and be able to position our products to best compete against competitive offerings. The CAE must also be intimately familiar with the spec/bid/buy, commercial project procurement system, and be able to develop and communicate project sales strategies to Sales Engineers in his/her district and throughout the Electrical Sector. He/she must be capable of forging partnerships with internal resources (product lines, sales forces) and 3rd party influencers (CAT Dealer, PQSO Rep) to best position our company for specific projects.

Essential Functions:
•Develop and maintain a target list of Electrical Consultants and other designated accounts in your market, and develop/maintain a database of key individuals at these firms using current customer relationship management tools. Target Consultants will include Consultants which influence projects containing a large amount of our products, regardless of the final destination or purchasing location.

•Establish relationships with the Principal, the Lead Electrical Engineer, and key staff Engineers at the Consulting firm and other designated accounts. Achieve a position as a broad-based trusted Technical Advisor to key individuals within the account.

•Meet with local inspectors to provide technical clarification and support required to gain AHJ approval. Meet with Local Utilities to determine their metering and application standards and work with our facilities to obtain approval

•Provide technical product updates and technical training for Electrical Consultants. This will typically be done in the form of Lunch and Learn seminars and through the support of Electrical Sector wide marketing programs (trailer tours, Consultant CEU-based training programs, etc

•Support assigned Product Line as Linked AE . Includes at a minimum, supporting the annual update of the Consulting Application Guide (CAG) sections and related Product Guide Spec (PSG) documents, and participation in the Product Line’s strategic planning process. Although not a requirement, the CAE may be asked to serve on either the Consulting Application Guide or Product Spec Guide committee.

•Provide input to the Product Line organizations and to the Electrical Group’s leadership relative to industry trends, competitors’ actions and code trends that could develop into opportunities or threats for our company's Electrical business.

•Represent our Corporation in local technical societies. Examples include IAEI and IEEE.
Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements) Basic Qualifications:
-Bachelors degree from an accredited institution
-Minimum of 7 years experience in the design, application or sales of Power Distribution products
-Authorized to work in US without company sponsorship
Position Criteria:
-Technical knowledge regarding the application of Power Distribution products and their application.
-Proficiency in some or all of the following: Power Quality and Reliability products and applications, Power Monitoring products and applications, Industrial Control products and applications.

-Demonstrated ability to interface with Electrical Consultant Principals and Lead Electrical Engineers, as well as Facility Engineers at Universities, Municipalities and End Users.

-Commercial skills and familiarity with the spec/bid/buy project construction marketplace.
-Team leader ability, consensus builders and mentors
-Initiative and self-management skills
-Value selling experience
-Presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
-Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
