Operations / Production Manager Chemical Engineer
Salary Up To $150,000 + 15% Bonus, Excellent Benefits & Paid Relocation
Manufacturer of specialty chemicals is seeking a Chemical Engineer with a minimum of 5 years operations management experiences and, at least 10 years of production/process engineering and technical experience in a specialty chemicals plant. This position requires experience in operations management and technical support for specialty or fine chemicals.
As an Operations Manager, you will:
• Will lead and manage all plant activities for multiple specialty chemical production units
• Provide daily operational leadership of supervisors and engineers assigned to the multiple units
• Drive performance improvements using proper EHS compliance
• Encourage employee development, instilling results oriented culture and a technically driven improvement approach
• Report to the Plant Manager and interact with supervisors and up to a team of thirty direct reports
• Drive the implementation of good chemical manufacturing / management practices
• Improvements in operating reliability, rates, costs, yields, energy usage, labor
• Lead, develop and implement process improvements and cost reductions
• Apply engineering leadership expertise to technical operational problems to optimize operating efficiencies and establish technical structure and order
• Apply sound root cause analysis techniques and creative alternatives to technical related problems.
• Work with the Technical, R & D, and Pilot Plant groups to support introduction of new products
Location: Southern location with access to outdoor activities, the charm of country live & southern living or the city amenities of great dining, shopping, sports, quality schools, antiquing, music & entertainment.
For this Operations Manager position, you need:
• BS in Chemical Engineering, Masters is preferred
• Leadership experience developing an effective team oriented culture in a union environment is highly desired
• A proven record of improving plant performance using cost reductions, process improvement; resources conservation
• Experience in project designing, development, implementation of small & medium sized capital projects
• Ten-fifteen years of experience chemical manufacturing experience, with a minimum of five years in management
• Knowledge of EHS practices for a chemical manufacturing environment including PSM and MOC processes
• Experience in process design and improvement including batch and continuous operations, reactors, distillation and heat exchange systems and solids handling.
• Candidates must have the right to work for any employer in the U.S.
