MACHINE SHOP ESTIMATOR Immediate Temp-to-Hire Position available / Montebello CA 90640
SUMMARY
Estimate and quote machine work, while seeking to obtain increased sales. Responsible to analyze and compile data on each factor that may have an influence on costs such as labor, materials, special machinery requirements, tooling, location, etc. Responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring everything required to successfully bid the job is present. Estimator must aggressively follow-up with customers to ensure that bids are received and project information is updated regularly. Will follow-up on bids and budgets to close the business. Will assure company sales goals are achieved.
REQUIREMENTS:
Previous Estimator experience - minimum 4 years. Experience in manufacturing, fabrication & machining processes (previous machining background / experience is a must - conventional grinding machinery a plus). Knowledge of materials. Must be familiar with lean manufacturing concepts with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings & specifications.
Must have good communication skills both written & verbal. Strong interpersonal relations, negotiation, and phone skills. Strong trouble-shooting skills and the ability to think critically.
Experience with production planning software or ERP systems, MS Excel / Word / Outlook required. Must be able to work well with diverse clientele (buyers, planners, engineers). High school diploma required. Flexibility with working schedules and able to work overtime as needed. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background, past employment verification, drug screen and prove eligibility to work in the US if a job is offered and accepted.
DUTIES:
Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements. Resolves discrepancies in quote by asking questions of customers. Prepares quote letter to explain the quote and any clarifications or exceptions to what is in the scope of project or what exceptions are found in the specifications. Send quotes to customers in a timely manner and follows-up to guarantee customer satisfaction. Potential to visit plant sites and customers in order to obtain information, measurements, or ask questions in regards to the scope of project. Will learn the grinding trade to assist with customer questions.
MISC: Hours: 7am to 330pm with flexibility to work beyond an 8 hour day, as needed. Salary based on past experience and verifiable history. Benefits include: Medical healthcare 100% paid for the employee after 60 days (HMO). Company paid life policy, standard holidays, vacation, profit sharing after 1 year & during open enrollment. Potential year-end bonus depending on co profitability. Temp-to-Hire conversion period is 90 days.
