The DBA is responsible for planning, developing and implementing state of the art software solutions facilitating company growth, translating business needs into technical solutions, and defining solutions to problems through reasoned application of information technology. The /DBA will have a well-rounded IT background of software development and project management within the SDLC. They will also be adept at consensus building, crisis management, problem-solving and negotiating.
DBA General Skills:
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects with minimal supervision and tight deadlines
Collaborates with team a standard way of pursuing application development
Finding simple answers to complex questions or problem solving outside the box
Recognizing objects potential reuse in the organization or in the application (object oriented programing with Models)
Observing and understanding the broader system environment
Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, client service and technical writing skills, coupled with a strong interest in further developing and integrating operations with technology
Experienced in software development life cycle
Strong coding skills
Ability to execute the above tasks with limited supervision
Provides technical mentorship to users
Strong SQL writing skills used in creating Crystal Reports, Reporting Services reports, or Excel a plus
DBA Primary Responsibilities:
DBA for SQL Server 2012: install, configure, maintain, tuning, troubleshooting, advanced SQL, security SL Schema, and Backup /restore disaster recovery
Reporting Tools:, Microsoft Reporting Services, Crystal, Excel, Word Templates
Back Office: Analyze Issues, troubleshooting, maintenance, enhancements
Webserver: IIS administration, site certificate installation, troubleshooting, log review, tuning, maintenance
Software Applications: SQL Server (2008, 2012)
Work with the Developer to provide acceptance testing on developed features to ensure all business and functional requirements have been met
Assist in the efforts to resolve and troubleshoot issues, implement and deploy new products, support and maintain existing product versions and assist in custom report writing
Perform all other related work, as assigned or as apparent
DBA Expectations:
Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) within organization. Contributes through own development of advanced technologies/concepts with global reach or industry application
Manage multiple initiatives concurrently
20-25 hrs./wk., (May work remotely in the St. Louis area or work in our office. Required to come in to NewGround at least one day for around 8 hrs. or two days for 4 hrs.)

DBA Education and/or Experience Prerequisites:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems or related preferred
5-8 years’ experience programing development required
General working knowledge of Accounting AP/AR/GL preferred
