Primary Purpose:
The AIX Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Enterprise Imaging UNIX servers and infrastructure systems. The AIX Administrator carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following technical areas: Server maintenance, System upgrades and procurement, infrastructure design and layout, Disaster Recovery implementation, OS maintenance, Server hardening, and departmental projects.
Responsibilities:
• Administration of various IBM AIX LPARS and hardware
• Assist in planning and administration of Disaster Recovery for AIX servers
• Ensure all Unix/Linux based servers are adhering to change control and are audited
• Working with internal customers to troubleshoot and resolve incidents
• Maintain documentation for both daily operations and Disaster Recovery
• Assist Backup Administrator with backups
• Assist with security architecture and monitoring as it pertains to AIX
• On call 24/7 x 365 for emergencies and a shift based monitoring schedule
• Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
• Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
• 2+ years experience in IBM AIX (AIX 6.1+ & 7)
• At least 4+ years overall experience (combination of AIX/Linux/Solaris)
• Some experience in shell scripting (korn/bash)
• Experience utilizing IBM HMC
• Must be a team player with appropriate corporate conduct
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Preferred:
• Prior experience in an AIX Environment
• Prior experience with PowerHA/HACMP
• Previous experience in a Power 6, 7, or 8 environment
• Live Partition Mobility (LPM) experience
• Hitachi NAS/SAN experience a plus
• RHCT/RHCE, Linux, or IBM AIX certifications are also preferable.
